From the looks of it, RM want EVERY packet to have a barcode on it. Don't know if the destination address will be encoded in the barcode but if it is, that will push RM a long way towards being able to see what each walk has got each day

How many of them are ones that you actually have to scan? From the looks of it, RM want to have it so that DOs literally scan every parcel

Currently, we should be scanning every parcel that has a barcode - which is every parcel that does not have a new stamp on it. Which is probably 98% of them at a rough guess.

Barcoded stamps, 2d Barcodes, 1d barcodes and QR codes are all scannable. The only regular ones that aren't are the PDF417 type as shown below.

A quick glance at above each frame tells you the disparity already between workloads, and they do nothing about that.
I hardly think having this data on a spreadsheet is going to suddenly change things.

Wont make a difference on my walk. I’ve never known so many people who are so gormless that they can’t even get their address right.

Your manager should pull you up on that as guys at our place have as hey have a report on how many scanned items per walk there are and they can check if you scanned delivered or not

This is what happens when you replace 35 year plus line managers with inexperienced COM's, they don't even go round with the "missed scan" tracked list anymore, trimble isn't flagged up either.

Royal Mail could help us out by making it clearer which barcodes need a scan, some packets are peppered in the things, WISH packets in particular have loads some work most don't, obviously some are just for the supplier but how are we supposed to know without wasting our time trying to scan them.

I'm almost 2 months into the job and completely agree it should be made clearer what needs to be scanned. I usually try to scan the boxes that say whistle on them only for the dpa to make a noise half the street hears.

Best way would be for RM to have a zone on the labels where the only stuff allowed is the postage, destination address, return address and the RM barcodes

None tracked parcels with 2D's don't get scanned into our depo. So I doubt a manager cannot collar you for not scanning an individual item as they don't know when it went out. Though missing lots of parcels might be a giveaway.

PDA battery down to 40% at end of shift now, it wont last the full shift when there's 3 times as many packets/parcels to photograph, many with flash when we start delivering in the dark.
