Feeling isolated
I feel bullied and isolated at work as I’m always grouped with people who speak non English to each other. I’m not taken seriously by the managers and told to get headphones, which I don’t want to. If I move work areas I’m told off. This is on O.T., Duty or SA, makes no difference. Union give me various answers as do managers. What is the solution please?

Re: Feeling isolated
P.S. I don’t hate them I just feel bullied, it’s like their way to exclude me. I know they are talking about me as I hear my name mentioned and lots of sniggers.

Try a translation app on your mobile, if they know you know what they are saying, you can communicate better.

Re: Feeling isolated
Honestly in what way do you feel bullied. Do they not make any effort at all to speak your language or maybe just maybe they can't. I'm irish but speak english the way i was brought up to speak ( can talk a little irish not much) if i work with people from a different culture i try my best to understand what they mean but sometimes ive no idea. an likewise. As for the sniggers ( your words) how on hell on earth do you know there talking about you.

Re: Feeling isolated
Seems to me this post is more to do with workplace stress than anything specific. Not that I am qualified but recognise the signs.
Best course of action is to take a few weeks' holiday away from any perceived issues. Failing that, get a chit from your doctor for workplace stress and have a few weeks off.
You go into any work environment now you meet people with English, not their first language. Find these people myself to be very polite and friendly, even though patience is needed. Bullied is unwanted negative attention, and to be blunt, that is your own perception which i feel is not the real issue. They sit together in the canteen not as an exclusion, but because of the language barriers.
As English is not their first native language, have you considered yourself interacting more with foreign nationals?
A simple Hello will do in the beginning. They might be feeling the same way as you with any language barrier

Re: Feeling isolated
I said various answer by managers and union. If you can’t be helpful please don’t bother posting. You just seem to want to argue and cause drama.

Re: Feeling isolated
I have already spoke to my doctor, he said it’s not you it’s them. If you feel bullied you are bullied. English is their first language for most of these colleagues, they speak it fluently.redlen wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 00:57Seems to me this post is more to do with workplace stress than anything specific. Re: Feeling isolated
Am unsure now if this is a stress issue or a more sinister post.
But still suggest you take that holiday
Will now retire from this thread as it is now making me feel uncomfortable

Re: Feeling isolated
Everyone should be speaking English in your work environment. Report it if they do not.

Re: Feeling isolated
Thank you, nice to feel I have some understanding and support. I have reported it but it makes no difference I’m told different things. Even the manager speaks in ‘their’ language and I ask repeatedly for instructions in English. Is there any clear instructions about this within RM or is it just etiquette?scoobydo79 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 15:41Everyone should be speaking English in your work environment.
