Staffing levels & Use of Part and Part

Is it me or is there a management plan to reduce delivery staffing levels to the point where a number of walks are Part and Part on such a regular basis that Posties are being switched around and told to take out two days' mail virtually every day?

Nice saving if you can run a DO on 2/3 the staff and force the others to pick up the slack (plus the absorption)....

That certainly seems the case, although it's possibly being run on the basis DO's are fully staffed with no allowances for short or long term illnesses/absences.

Seems to be the case... loads of walks not going out for days and days....

Its called running the business into the ground.. deliberately..

Happened all the way through the pandemic, so little reason to stop it.
Certain duties getting a 6 day service, others 2-3.

Why provide a good service when you can just take the money and run, offering a substandard as and when service. If anyone challenges it, such as residents, local press or even MPs, just fire off a cut and paste response. I'll provide it below, so anyone reading can also play along:

yes, and it's likely Ofcom will soon be fining Royal Mail for doing so seeing as they are investigating this.

Royal Mail don't care. It's cheaper to pay the fines from Ofcom than have sufficient cover to clear the office, whether that be through permanent staff or O/T. Only way things will change is if Ofcom seriously up the fines.

It's an absolute joke. They talk about working Sundays, they can't even cover Monday to Saturday.

It really doesn’t work if customers are only getting their mail 3 times a week. A working system would be a steady day with no rushing about and both walks being cleared everyday.
