30 degree heat whilst working

Post by eastie »

Thompson moaning about actuals showing everyone slowing down.
Does he realise in his air conditioned office we are trying to work in 30 degree heat and driving in a sweat box of a van with windows closed
.
I'm in my 60's and strugling big time in this heat and what has Thompson said about the heatwave, absolutely nothing and just work faster

If DO buildings are anything like MC buildings, it won't be any cooler inside

Yeah it's quite warm in the DO but it's much hotter outside grafting with sweat pouring off whilst the sun beats down on us.

Well I'm pushing 60 and I've slowed down outside in the heat these last few days, what does he expect, I'd love to see him doing this job.

What are your start and finish times? Part of the question you asked is why it is because of the pipeline say a business puts mail into the system at 5:00pm it will get delivered to a sorting office and dispatched to a mail center the fewer workers has an impact on when the mail is ready for the DO? It is not rocket science we went from 85 mail centers to less than 50.

Think it's about 32 MCs now.. Don't know how many of the ones now closed got converted into DOs. Many of the ex MC buildings were probably big enough to merge 2 or 3 DOs into 1.

If anything I can see final dispatch time sbeing moved back a little bit soon. Where as before from an RDC to a MC you might have had two part filled lorries during the night, now they'll just send 1 full one, which arrives later

When I started in the late 80's to early 90's we had 99.5% 1st class and about 2nd class at 93% but with all the clowns of high office in RM it has deteriorated year by year because of less staff there are many who contributed to the inevitable outcome of this once great public service. May they be hung at dawn while it is nice and cool for them!

I can see it being moved to a 72 hour turnaround so it doesnt matter what time it comes to the delivery office it will b delivered the day after.
