It's a dispute between RM and Unite, not between RM and the CWU. If we don't cross their picket lines, there's the question of whether that could be construed by RM as unofficial industrial action and the knock on affect of if that could be used to get our ballot invalidated

Not unless the CWU encouraged it, it couldn’t.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑05 Jul 2022, 20:47It's a dispute between RM and Unite, not between RM and the CWU. When or IF we strike as frontline staff, do you think managers will see picket line and then turn around and go home? There is your answer.

Maybe I'm missing something so pardon my ignorance but shouldn't unison have waited a couple more weeks for our result and strike dates and planned a literally everyone out strike on same days.
Everyone together and all that shizzle.
Everyone together and all that shizzle.

There is no point in managers striking the same day as us

If RM construed it as unofficial action they can't by definition then use it as a reason to invalidate our ballot. They would have to consider it as Union encouraged illegal industrial action and there would probably be some consequences from that.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑05 Jul 2022, 20:47It's a dispute between RM and Unite, not between RM and the CWU. For that reason, the Union, in an official capacity, will neither encourage anyone to cross the manager's picket line nor indeed recognise it and refuse to cross. It is a legal minefield for the Union, and each individual has to look to their own convictions.

Managers have crossed our picket lines so I have no compunction in crossing theirs.

There is the caveat that if we feel that our H&S would be compromised by an unmanaged office we would be within our rights to not enter the premises. We cannot then post on Facebook "Solidarity to our managers. I'm supporting Unite!"
Be very clear it is not our dispute.

Grunwick wasn't our dispute yet we supported the workers and respected their picket line and not crossed.
Social Care workers -it wasn't our dispute but when they have been on strike we have respected their picket line and not crossed.
The BBC/journalists - it wasn't our dispute but when they have been on strike we have respected their picket line and not crossed.
Now it is OK?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Do we cross a managers picket line IF they strike ?
The difference is the CWU cannot be seen to be encouraging any members to refuse to cross this one or it would count as them essentially taking part in industrial action themselves.....without going through the proper processclashcityrocker wrote: ↑06 Jul 2022, 19:45Grunwick wasn't our dispute yet we supported the workers and respected their picket line and not crossed.

You can choose to do what you want - the CWU just cant endorse the action of refusal
