Unite/CMA has officially given us notice of two periods of industrial action:
Work to Rule: Contracted hours (i.e. no overtime) and 1 hour lunch from 00:01 hours on 15th July 2022to 23:59 on 19th July 2022
Strike: 00:01 hours on 20th July 2022 to 23:59 on 22nd July 2022
With the exception of those based in Northern Ireland, both periods of industrial action will apply to all Unite/CMA members in Junior and Middle Manager roles in frontline operations in Delivery and Collections, as well as Mail Hub Processing and those employed as (SHE) H&S Advisors and as Performance Coaches for Delivery and Collections.
We are disappointed by this announcement as there are no grounds for industrial action. The lengthy consultation on the Delivering for the Future structure concluded earlier this year, and it has been up and running since 23 May.
For the last few weeks, we have been conducting a review of the early stages of the implementation of the new structure through our 10 regional areas. We are in the process of collating this feedback and we will communicate next steps very shortly. With all organisational changes we will continue to do these periodic reviews as the structure embeds to ensure continuous improvement.
Our frontline delivery managers, more than anyone, understand the damage industrial action of any nature will do, especially in the current environment. They also appreciate the significant effort it will take to repair and rebuild afterwards. We already have customers poised to take their business elsewhere and there is no guarantee that traffic will return.
We are finalising our contingency plan so that we will have minimum disruption for customers in the event of this unnecessary industrial action.

Contingency is, a fair number of the managers aren't in any union so would use that as an excuse to attend work, some will have voted yes to strike action, but will be shi**ing themselves when the area bosses pump them with the dreaded consequences of strike action, so will attend work. That'll leave enough managers to spread across each region to cover a few days of disruption.

I'm not worried in the slightest, not my fight. Just a casual interest in how this will pan out and the legal ins/outs of having 100's of people in a building with no one in charge. Honest :)

I’m a floater I only find out what duty I’ll on when I arrive each day. So if the manager hasn’t done staffing that day what duty would I take out?
Find a walk that you know that hasnt gone out and take it, its not rocket science. If theres more staff than you in that situation then use seniority to decide who takes what combined with which walks people know.
If all else fails grab a york of tracked parcels and do them until youve worked your time.
