Re: National insurance
We pay less don't we?
Which means RM pay less.
So the 2% pay increase basically costs them nothing.

Re: National insurance
The amount that can be earned before we start to pay NIC's is going up from 6th July.
It's currently £190 per week and it's going up to £242 per week.
It'll mean we'll pay less NIC's from then on, but it's not back dated!

Re: National insurance
To be exact the threshold for paying NIC's will actually be increasing from £9,880 to £12,570, and will be the same as for income tax.

Re: National insurance
It annoys me that the media and politicians always quote an annual figure for the allowance. NI is calculated on a weekly or monthly basis depending on how you are paid. I work for Angard and only grossed £8000 last year but still paid £300 in national insurance due to the bulk of that income being earned around the Christmas period. If you have a good week you can go over the weekly threshold but unlike income tax when you have subsequent weeks below the threshold you don't get a rebate.RobertT wrote: ↑02 Jul 2022, 19:46To be exact the threshold for paying NIC's will actually be increasing from £9,880 to £12,570, and will be the same as for income tax.

As Royal Mail pay weekly your increased allowance will be £242 per week not £12570 per annum.

The new rates are here to stay until the government decides to change them again.

Re: National insurance
Would have been nice if they had delayed our “lump sum” payment by another week so we could all have paid a bit less in NICs… Every penny counts, especially these days.
