40hr duty for 35hr pay !!!!

A 25hr pmn in our office who delivers all mail in his car,has no break and runs on his delivery, has been given a 35hr contract to cover 40hrs work....cos he came back early and the SOM saw him wandering about in the office. He was asked to start earlier to absorb the IPS on the 40hr duty he was covering, he went in a rant and told the SOM that he was efficient + quick and why was he not given a 35hr contract after 3yrs as a pmn ? The SOM told him that he would give him 35hr contract but he had to do 40hr duty.....he agreed and said its a piece of piss, all rounds are easy !!!
We have another 25hr pmn in our office who started before him, who wants a 35 hr contract. Will RM tell him that the only way he can get a new 35hr contract if he did exactly what the other dimwit agreed to do.

Thats a bad state of affairs mate.
But at least you are getting some LTFT grades made up -in our office (47 people) we have lost 7 full timers in last two years through retirement, VR, sacked etc and not one LTFT postman has been made up. Not through lack of trying -it's just policy in Glasgow that no full time vacancies wil be filled.
Meanwhile the rest of us have to do the same work (boxing in part time runs etc)

We have a guy on a 40 hour contract who only does 35 hours - every morning during the time allocated to IPS he spends an hour talking to other people, going for cups of tea for himself and others, wandering off to who knows where and on top of this usually doesn't arrive on the IPS until 10 minutes after it starts because he has to get the cuppa that he should really of had at home but didn't have time for. The management never say anything to him so this reversal of the contract you mentioned must be official - I wonder if any more are available?

A 35 hour a week bloke in our office regulary complains because he want FT contract. So whats he doing to prove its needed? he's coming in 30 minutes early every day and finishing an hour and a half before time!
