Text from the CWU re. ballot
Just received a text from someone called Amy at the CWU asking if I've sent in my ballot paper for the strike action. Just wondering if anyone else has received this text too or if it could be anything dodgy before I reply.

I received a message from Rob at CWU along the same lines, I replied saying I’d posted it and he replied saying “Brilliant thanks”, pretty sure it’s legit although have never had this before.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I hope that they have the right permissions to use and distribute members data in this way. I'm not sure that I'd be happy about my number being given to Random Rob. Have they heard of GDPR?

Yes they have: https://www.cwu.org/ltb/ltb-310-18-gene ... ions-gdpr/
I would imagine that in the joining process there would have been some small print/T&C's about the CWU being able
to use your contact details and if you prefer not to be contacted by a certain method then don't supply that info
or opt out afterwards.
Going forward, it will be possible for all CWU Members to use the ‘My Union’ facility on the
website to decide what communications they receive. It is also a requirement of the GDPR that
individuals have control over the information they receive .........
