How to join the pension

Hi all,
I have just completed my 1st month as a postie and I am wondering how I go about joining the pension scheme. I have not opted out and would like to know if I need to join myself or if this will happen automatically? If it happens automatically what would the timescale be?

We’ll write to you when you’re eligible to join the Royal Mail Defined Contribution Plan (RMDCP). You don’t need to do anything. You’ll automatically start saving 5% into your Plan, and Royal Mail will automatically start paying in 3%.

After you’ve worked for Royal Mail for 12 months, you will automatically start saving 6%, Royal Mail will add 10%. You can choose to save less. If you do, Royal Mail will add less too.

But the RMDCP pension is due to be replaced soon by a newer format of pension, loads of info on the Pensions

Does your payslip show any money going into the RMDCP yet?

Payslip doesn't mention that anywhere. Just tax and NI

It’ll show up on the left hand side of your payslip

Had a good double check over the payslip but no sign of what you mentioned. On the top righthand side there is a box which says
Pensionsion contrib N/A

Managed to dig out my first payslips, it was on the sixth one that RMDCP started being deducted as 'PSE Adj RMDCP MIN' so you
might have a couple of payslips to wait.
