Hi all,
I was placed on a stage 1 back in April following time off for mental health. I am now off again today as I’ve dropped a cupboard on my foot and unable to bare weight. What will this mean for my stage 1? How long will my stage 1 last? Just concerned that I am going to be dismissed following this. I only work weekends and I am on annual leave next weekend so I will be able to rest and hopefully return the following weekend.

Re: Stage 1
No need to worry, Stage 2 will only be triggered if you have a further 2 absences or 10 days within 6 months of stage 1 being issued.
Make sure you inform your manager at the earliest opportunity that you are fit to work otherwise your non working days will count as sick.
ie Sunday evening
Hope your foot improves
Elevate it and reduce swelling with ice.

Re: Stage 1
A stage one is everything to worry about.
Getting another stage is one step away from dismissal as there is no stage 3

Re: Stage 1
This is the world we live in, Royal Mail spend more time trying to sack someone than actually trying to inspire and make a worker feel they are appreciated, and they wonder why most employees do not care.

Re: Stage 1
Just make sure you can do your job when you come back don't rush back what has happened you probably will end up with a stage 2 but take your union rep in the meeting this meeting should discuss the issues why you were off accident this can happen to anyone you need this stated in this interview because it could trigger stage 3 or as some say RTU (reason to urge) After stage 2 warning issued basically fire them for not following standards, The standards are 14 day's or 4 absences in 12 months but changes to less through the stages to like 2 absences and 7 days. The reason for correction or establishing the facts which you and your manager should sign only if correct is this will go to an RTU and HR (Human Resources) and if you dispute it an ET (Employment Tribunal) thing is don't rush back make yourself fit to do the job and hopefully no accidents good luck and all the best!
