Hi, Sorry if this is in the wrong topic. But, I couldn't find one to suit and thought that as many of you as possible needed to see this:-
I've worked at local DO's about 6 times over the last 3 years as a 'Parcel Delivery Driver'. The rate has always been around the £11.50 mark and £13.75 for Sundays.
I received this offer from Pertemps this morning:-
"I currently have a vacancy at Royal Mail, this is available as of immediately"
Details:
Monday - Saturday
Pay: £9.50 - £11.87 PH
I called the office to see if the rate was a mistake. To be told.
"£9.50ph was the starting rate which would increase to £11.87 if I were to be contracted more than 3 months!"
WOW! Does your union know about this?

Re: Pertemps
How things have changed
I started with Pertemps 2 years ago, and starting rate was £11.14.
I have seen numerous temporary roles advertised on Manpower for same starting rate.
Maybe it is RM's new business plan, pay minimum wage for any new contracts, with incremental rises during period of work contracted for and maybe longer to get to £11.87
Then when they decide the contract ends, it is good bye and a month later they require new temps starting at £9.50

Everything will be OK in the end, If it's not OK, then its not the end.

Re: Pertemps
Witrh manpower I ended up on £12+ after about 3 months (time scale might be a little different). RM cancelled agency work, so I was not working for a couple of weeks. But when the work came back round for the agency I stayed on the £12+.
I'm turning purple!
