Mail delays

Post by Kenfandango »

Okay, due to having a wife who works overnight for the NHS I tend to collect my mail from the frame so she doesn't get woken up, so I know this isn't due to my own postie... Yesterday all my mail was from the 10th/11th, today I had 2 letters, one from the 8th and one from the 13th. I've been asked a few times in the last week whether I can "check the van" for things customers say were sent over a week prior.

Why is this happening when "letters are down" and it's allegedly the quietest time of the year? My walk partner today thinks they've wilfully held things up so we "have something to do" when the train strikes hold the mail up (will it?! I don't even know,) but am I being paranoid to think the delays coming at the same time as media attention at a potential strike is a deliberate attempt to make the public facing staff look bad/lazy?

Or is it just our area? ( We are in the southeast, close to but not quite London)... Maybe our sorting is understaffed.

Any thoughts?

A first class stamp, a small franked packet and a few prepaid insurance documents

I got my bank statement yesterday dated 5 June. Usually arrives around the 9th or 10th so whether it's DSA or RM (mine was DSA) there are delays somewhere.

Sadly I have moved as much as I possibly could of my correspondence from paper to online given the shocking quality of service that RM now offers. Many others I know have done the same. There must be many thousands nationwide that have done this as well, business that you will never get back. If a customers pays RM to deliver a 1st Class letter on time that is the service they both expect and should receive, but we all know it is not the case now from the many comments on here. Sad times, all in the name of shareholders.

This is where RM have succeeded, letters dont make much money so we are all being quietly pushed into going paperless. Make the service seem rubbish, people dont use it, RM then say people dont send letters anymore, Bingo!!! No more letters...
