As rm are moving now from a letter business to a parcel business and with volume of letters going down what do you think the chances are of getting vr in the near future for delivery offices and would it be on age or seniority .and what sort of sum would they offer . Only asking as I'm sure rm would rather employ temps or people on new less generous contracts than what most of us have now especially long service posties as myself who has 38 years service.

The chances of getting VR is next to zero, with such a high turnover of staff, especially among new starters, if RM need to reduce the number of sfaff, rather than pay out redundancy, all it has to do is stop recruiting

The CEO and board has plans to ruin even more what once was a lifestyle job,early start, early finish,remember when 1st Delivery was done by 0930?
Now with plans to start later with Sunday thrown in and longer hours during Winter (annualised) the job will be knackered with thousands leaving.

So no, I doubt they would be redundancies in delivery side.

Probably not even then. In the last two years out of my old office of 75 staff, 16 have left for various reasons. They've recruited 21 new starts as they are a LAT office.

That's an interesting take on how the changing of the USO will go.
Most people think it will go down to 5 days for letters, but who knows - letters might stay at 6 days, but you deliver run A on a Mon-Wed-Fri whilst taking priority items for run B, then run B on Tues-Thu-Sat including the priority for run A.
Pretty much how they were (badly) rotating shared van runs during the pandemic, and dare I say, still today.
