Re: Already agreed
that is what's wrong within the trade unions v the big bosses
can you ever imagine uncle terry live on sky? nope, but if he did he would probably come across as a blood thirsty strike hungry person,
simple simon says that we have been offered a 5.5% pay increase which we all know is total garbage in the t&c's
they have the power of the media, twitter, facebook and left wing tv politics shows just won't cut it, then they have the power of the courts and gov't backing them too

Re: Already agreed
I that's pretty much it for the CWU. Nobody will back them now after this. Our union rep doesn't get the support because of his own agenda approach. Not really interested in what his members want, as long as he gets his family friendly hours.

Re: Already agreed
Your union rep isn't a dictator, he must have some support otherwise he wouldn't have been elected to that position.
If you think he's no good all you to do is find someone else who's willing to take over, muster enough support and vote to replace the current rep.

Re: Already agreed
I am 100% CWU but these are my thoughts:
It's going to happen, by fair means or foul, I've no doubt about that whatsoever.
The big "Agenda for Agreement".....that state of the art agreement that was the new beginning, is in tatters after only months. I did 25 years and in all that time any wonderful new "agreement" only lasted months before everyone was back at loggerheads again.
Back then though the business was state owned and you could get away with it.....but not now that it is privately owned. It is a totally different scenario.
Shareholders have invested in the business because they want a RETURN - a PROFIT - and the business HAS to deliver on that now. REALITY.
Hence the bulldozing ahead. The RM board have tried to do it nicely in partnership with the CWU but the efficiencies they wanted back in return for pay rises already awarded to the staff have not happened, or at best been botched (eg. revisions). You the membership voted in favour of this agreement (although a large number were probably hoodwinked by the money side only and thought that the payback side of it would never happen). It is obvious that nothing is working in regard to the agreement and any talk of making progress is met with delay, delay, delay, so it is now full steam ahead - by executive action if required. Simon has calmly gone on TV to explain his side of the situation, can you honestly see Terry acting in the same manner? A clever move by the board, missed by the CWU.
The workforce have only two options now sadly, 1. go along with it.....or 2. leave. Solidarity on striking will NOT happen as too many workers only think of themselves and their own situation now, and the board know that! Years ago it was a matter of principal but those values are long gone. I am just saying it how it is, and this was witnessed daily in my office. I actually witnessed a postie tell the rep to f*** Off when asked if he was supporting industrial action - and this was from a CWU member!

Re: Already agreed
My gut feeling is that the partial axing of Skynet will happen with EA. Think it'll be just the ones like to the islands in Scotland that'll be kept. It's probably a one way trip once RM give the notice to the relevant plane operators to end contracts

Re: Already agreed
There are certain parts of their proposals that can't be imposed.
Sunday working has to be by agreement, either individually or collectively.
Buy out of allowances has to be by agreement, there are guys in our place still getting the driving allowance that stopped more than 15 years ago because they turned down the buy out.
There are also other parts that would cause difficulties if they were imposed.
Mass changes to start times, annualised hours and flexi time would likely cause chaos without a collective agreement because we could be awkward as f**k, working our hours and tie them up in paperwork with flexible working applications and employment tribunals for constructive dismissal.
Changes in sick absence are probably our weakness, the sick absence policy is not and never has been an agreed policy, the attendance procedure is but the actual conditions on which sick absence is paid is not.
I expect this to be where they attack first, along with the terms for new starts. Our soft underbelly if you like.

Re: Already agreed
Woody, are you saying unless sundays are part of your contract they couldn't force you to do them? Cheers

No they're not.2yearpostie wrote: ↑16 Jun 2022, 18:46They are proposing to change the contracts. It will be sign here or the doors over there ( Asda did it last Christmas if you have a google)
Nobody is proposing that.
They might be thinking that but I'm coming round to the idea that thinking is in short supply at boardroom level.
Please don't promote scare stories.
Things are stressful enough for staff.

Re: Already agreed
With regards to collectively agreed, would that be at a national or local level do you think? And say 70% agreed, though I cant think why, would the rest have to fall in line?
