and not the full timers. Well in our office anyway. I’ve never known a company treat part timers so differently to full timers, I’m sure there’s a law against it.

Aren't the new starting staff contracted for possibly doing Sundays?

Full time staff in ours actually do Sunday overtime now, as they have been starved out of Mon-Fri shifts.

It's a total waste of money anyway. 90% of people you deliver to on a Sunday don't even know its coming, so they don't actually need it then. Extra wages and fuel with the cost of diesel now, all to deliver stuff very few actually want on Sunday. Madness.

Can anybody understand why Sunday's are dealt with differently than Monday to Saturday, why don't they just get 739'd? Although what's the betting the regular postie on Monday rarely brings them back again!

We can't 739 them because we're delivering to different D/O areas so don't have correct cards and wouldn't be able to drop pkts off at their local office anyway. They come back to the lat hub office and go out to be divered by the appropriate local D/O on Monday...... supposedly... again, like I said, a complete waste of time and therefore money.

Most people are not bothered about next day delivery including sundays. Some do for last minute stuff but id say they are a minority.

Simon says Royal Mail are offering Sundays to keep existing contracts and win more. I understand the reasoning behind that.

In my opinion Sundays should stay voluntary but i guess RM want to increase traffic.

No different if its your office.

We get guys from other offices covering our LATS / Sundays cos we dont have enough bodies to cover it.

P739 if its your office and you are able to take the parcel back to your office. Yellow slip if its coming back to us & back to mail centre for delivery the next working day.

Its overtime for some people. Its other peoples contract because they can only do one or two days a week due to employment / commitments elsewhere. For some doing 2 or 3 shifts has got them that "fulltime contract".

More likely go out to be delivered Tuesday. Inward MCs process the inward mail AFAIk (I don't work weekends) during the day Sunday so by the time that the LAT posties are arriving back at the LAT hub, the MC will be doing the final dispatch to the DO
