Bitterne Manor DO Manager - staff and sickness
Wonder how this is going to go....

Sick policy has to change. It cripples this company!
I'm consistently having front line staff in my office telling me they are sick to the back teeth of their colleagues abusing the sick policy, as they have to pick up the extra workload. I'm not saying sick is ingenuine. And i fully support it being paid for people with genuine illness. However, nobody can deny it's abused in this company. Look at the percentage compared to same sized industries, listen to what gets said openly on the work floors, look what gets posted on facebook pages etc..... it's not even hidden that it's abused and bizarrely nobody ever does anything about it.
The amount of postman that actually try and intimidate managers by using grievances and the word 'bullying' sadly makes a joke out of the few time it may be genuinely used. Nobody bullies anyone in my units. Fact.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Does this c*** have someone to dress them in the morning?
Nice to see RM employ the hard of thinking.
And as for his scenario I'll take "Things that never happened" for $500 Alex.

Why do they have to ‘pick up the extra workload’ ? You have a start and a finish time wether there’s one off sick or twenty

You cannot compare sickness without comparing other contributing factors, physical demand, stress, environment, equipment, managerial compassion...

My sympathies to everyone in the Bitterne office.

Maybe if the workload changed and the staff were not treated like donkeys things might change? No?

Re: Bitterne Manor DO Manager - staff and sickness
I couldnt give a monkeys if the entire office phoned in sick on any given day. It has no effect on how long or hard I need to work.
I have contracted hours. I work them and I go home.
I am not forced to stay out till midnight delivering because Jimmy, John and Jack didnt show up.

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
