Handing over of PDA?Yes or no?
I am not handing my PDA over to anyone.I am still getting people answering the door who have covid.Do not feel safe doing so either.
Do i having backing of my rep and the union?

I and lots in our office are still using XP1 and nobody has said anything.

xp1 dws. anyone asks you asked if they wanted you to sign on their behalf because lots of people had already handled your equipment.

Some people in my office live with extremely vulnerable people who if catch covid it could be fatal. One chaps wife has been very Ill with cancer and was told she has to be extra careful not to get covid. I know he feels very anxious.

20 years in and every office works and receives different instructions.
What is going on?
When i first joined everyone had the same start and finish time.
6 day week,Sunday off.

the xp1 was supposed to have been phased out early may, but i still sign myself, i figure nobody can sign them eligible anyway and the gps lock confirms it correct if any comeback

Why do you think you have any authority over a managers reasonable instructions in refusing?

All Covid restrictions have now been lifted by government and your employer so you have no real argument besides your own opinion.

Saying you are not going to do it is a one way ticket to a disciplinary

Because Royal mail health and safety policy is to do a dynamic risk assesment yourself when you are out on delivery, eg that dog might bite me not going in there, or not sure if this recipent has got a disease that could kill me/ make me phone in sick ill sign on their behalf after informing them.

This exactly, especially if you or a member of your family is clinically vulnerable.

But also for the OP you are not supposed to 'hand over' the PDA you are supposed to hold it arm's length

That still does not answer the question.

All Covid restrictions have now been lifted nationally. Even in hospitals it is no longer compulsory to wear a mask

Do you not think they have done all risk assessments with access to the public as professionals, especially with mass vaccination?

Can remember a while ago people were saying you can refuse to work in areas if no deep clean had been done after an employee contracted Covid if you felt unsafe.
Section 44 Employment Rights Act was being banded about with serious and imminent danger.

That is until people ended up being dismissed following that advice. That is why if you have any concerns you contact a manager and/or health and safety rep for advice and not point blank refused.

So any request by your employer has to be reasonable and proportionate with national guidelines
