While I agree with the sentiment with regards to taking breaks In my experience most people who don't take their breaks finish early.

It seems to be the whole reason for it, I'm not sure why anyone would skip their break to finish over their time but people do crazy s**t so....

People certainly do crazy s**t, we've got early starters that don't take breaks, sometimes they finish early but others they finish at finishing time, so really they've worked for free, some days especially Saturdays they'll put d2ds in when they get back, again after they've stopped being paid to be at work so again for free.

well there's a few in ours who skip their breaks, they'll probs have a sarnie or pie or whatever at their fitting, whilst boxing in and tying up, so not classed as a ''proper' break, then they book the full 40mins on the back of the duty as overtime. been going on for years. the gaffers know as well.

Bit confused at what your point is.

well the way they see it is.....they are still having their break and getting to add extra time on the back of the duty paid as overtime, whereas if you had your break you would not be able to add to 40 mins break as overtime. unless of course you still go over after not having your break, in which case you would book even more.

Oh i see. My thinking would be that scoffing a pie at your frame really is not a break!!

and if you got back say 1 hour 10mins over your time, by the time you put your stuff away, dispatched parcels etc, then add your 40 mins, you will book 2hrs overtime. 24 quid odd added to your pay. simples

Over 5 days boom 125 quid, Dont put our pay up RM we will just work slower and get it paid as OT instead.

If my duty meant I can't take my break or even worse I am forced to come in half an hour early otherwise I am not finishing on time. I would prove it in no time to management by working to the letter, that the duty is unachievable so stuff needs to be taken off.

People doing free work basically asking for their duty to remain the same.

lets just say you came back on your time EVERY day. but you only had a pie and a bottle of fanta at your frame for your so called break. you will be totally entitled to book 40 mins a day on your return to the office. so 3hrs 20mins overtime for finishing on your time. 40 quid overtime so about 25 quid in your hand. but if you came back OVER your finishing time, then that is added to the time you already have giving you even more.
