Ok decided to call it a day for person reasons.Handed notice in a week ago manager said ok,I understand.Now the other manager this morning tells me it's four weeks notice ! Got on to HR who said he can let you go of he wants with a weeks notice but contractually it's four weeks.
Where do I stand anyone ?

Contractually it is four weeks, less any leave you may have built up.
To leave earlier the manager could just put you on unpaid leave and forget about you.
If you just leave they could, in theory, sue you for your notice period - in practice I doubt they'd bother.

I mean you may be owed some days leave. Do you know if you have any entitlement built up?
If you gave four weeks notice, 20 working days, any leave owing could take up the end of the period. So you could give 20 days notice but leave after 16 if you had 4 days to use. That's how they work things at my office.

Will be stated on your contract of employment.
If you are weekly paid notice period is 4 weeks - this is however dependant on your start date.
I believe if you were employed pre 2016 then one weeks notice is what you need to give

But it seems every duty I'm on lately is on my own with more than a days mail lol...time to move on.
