If they get rid of Saturday letter delivery, VR is possible for some. But natural wastage is a far more realistic and cost effective way for them to reduce the workforce if they want to.
Saying that, I'd jump at the chance of VR if it came my way.

My take on it for what it is worth is that the powers that be realise that the 6 day letter USO is destined to be abolished eventually.
The reason why every Delivery Office is currently understaffed with no prospect of any change during the recruitment freeze is to save having to pay for VRs when the inevitable occurs.
Would jump at the chance of getting out but think that RM realise just how many senior posties feel the same way and are managing the situation with a damage limitation, financially speaking ongoing policy.
