Morning team. you may have read in the papers in the last week or so on speculation that royal mail may drop out of the FTSE one hundred this week. Unfortunately, last night after the financial markets closed, we received confirmation that royal mail was demoted from the FTSE 100 we are an FTSE 250 company now, we are no longer in the premier league, we've been relegated.

On a quarterly basis, the companies in the FTSE are reviewed and based on the value of our company, which is calculated using our share price.

We didn't make the CUT.

On a day to day basis, this won't change what we do, we will still need to turn up and deliver for our customers, but the decline in the share price and the demotion from the FTSE 100 is a sign that investors can see we have a challenging period ahead of us.

We are not doing as well as we did during Covid, they are looking to see whether we can compete in a post pandemic world.

We know we need to change and specifically change in delivery so we can meet the needs of the customers and match our workload and our labor.

We are now a parcels company that also delivers letters and this means we need to behave more like a parcel company.

As I said at our financial results two weeks ago, we are at a crossroads and we need to be honest with where we are so we can work together on changing and seizing the opportunity ahead.

Aside from the changes we want to agree with the CWU, there are some decisions we will need to take now to protect our company, protect your jobs and make sure we can continue to keep investing.

I look at the volume of letters and parcels we have coming in on a daily basis and how much we are spending to deliver those volumes and it's clear we are going to have to move much more quickly to match our resources to the reduced workload,

And that means we need to look very closely at things such as overtime and equalise workload across the team.

From what I can see our current labor hours in delivery are too high and of course, we need to manage our labor without impacting our service to our customers, which by the way, you are all making great progress on.
So thank you for that.

I've said it before Royal Mail is a brilliant business and I know our customers, you, and our investors agree with that.

We should be in the FTSE 100 and we will be again if we change to seize the opportunity ahead of us, and we can win, I'm sure of that, but only if we change and change now.

So how to you propose to equalise the workload when the revisions went so horrifically wrong ( letters certainly hasnt dropped in my office btw Simon), Im sure most people will be only to happy to cut off and not claim overtime but thats not getting things delivered is it?

We've been failing multiple deliveries and part deliveries since even before Covid was invented because we are chronically understaffed. Tens of thousands of items per week are being delayed deliberately because our unit isn't allowed to recruit despite the fact that 6 posties have left since Christmas and at our re-pick last year we had 5 staff too few to actually fill all of the available duty slots. Stop wringing your hands in mock angst, Si......you know the reasons why we're s***e.

is this bloke for real ? , i love the way he uses the word WE ,mails not down as much as he thinks as d2ds is mail so your call rate hasnt dropped , we all knew the revisions where a s**t storm and not achievable but who wanted them done regardless ? and the revisions was based on mail and not parcels , we all know pkts and parcels are through the roof so who keeps adding to the delivery workload ?, taking photos , knocking on neighbours , etc and then has the cheek to mention overtime , well its simple if they dont want to pay o/t then its not rocket science finish on time and what doesnt get delivered let them deal with it of ofcom , if delivery is such an easy job and we are all overpaid in there eyes why dont they offer evrs ?

He is the problem and he is on his way out, he just doesn't realise it yet. He is running Royal Mail to the ground, shares are diving, vast amount of workforce on the brink of IA including managers. People leaving in numbers unheard of previously. Sickness high due to fatigue, stress. He doesn't recognise that running people to the ground will push sickness even higher. All he sees is excel spreadsheet that are fed with corrupt data from DOs across the country. He is one hell of a deluded man. The sooner he goes the better for everybody.

First of all he hasn't got a clue what a mess his forced revisions were. Second of all Royal Mail inability to invest properly and at the right time is costing company fortune and is further reducing the efficiency. Bad scanners, dated and very tired fleet gradually phased out but replaced with electric vans with no infrastructure to charge them.

His biggest sin could be lying to the market to artificially prop the share price only to award key shareholders with millions in dividends. Company still made huge profits but he is predicting a crash in revenue and paints it all in black. Shares are diving, at the same he doesn't recognize the workforce at all. It is a recipe for disaster. He is picking on delivery guys but he fails to understand we are already overworked. Posties leave and they are not replaced. Some of us constantly shift double mail. In fact if we stopped all the good will, overtime and started to work by the book, if managers stopped fudging the figures he would be presented with the real picture of how out of place his targets are. He would be terrified by the scale of failures.

He is clueless, ignorant c**t. If it wasn't for us delivering the pandemic and boosted revenues he would be long gone by now.
