Told to look for new job.
Just curious but has anybody else with an issue that would not be in the best interest of their local DO gone to their DOM only to be told in a round about way "if you don't like it then you can always leave/find another job".
I mean not a serious issue but like something that is personally affecting you that can easily be sorted but they don't want to sort it because it's in their best interest no to sort the problem out.
Just curious because I found myself in that position this week. Hopefully rep sorts it. Either way I've taken up the challenge and decided to start looking.

Re: Told to look for new job.
I have had this at a previous DO, there were 3 options:
1. Fight it all the way even though the issue was against one of the chosen ones so I knew it would be brushed aside.
2. Look for another job.
3. (My decision) Dig my heels in, smile and be the most awkward postman there was, thereby irritating my DOM and also the person I had the issue with who knew I wouldn’t leave but also knew I was being squeaky clean so couldn’t get rid of me.

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Yup, heard this line from a few different managers. My response is always the same, "i am".

Right now i would think its the managers who should be looking
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Could be worse, the CWU rep could tell you the same thing.

Re: Told to look for new job.
Our DOM took early retirement but was fair with giving reserves their share of saturdays off. The new COM claims reserves are not entitled to ANY even if its the duty day off. Any staffing complaints regardless of their nature, is now met with some kind of "if you are unhappy, there's the door" line. As said above, the best way to react is to be the most awkward person you can be whilst remaining squeaky clean.

Re: Told to look for new job.
We’ve recently had our resign, and our union rep fought to get a 1-4 shift pattern for all reserves, was obvious the managers didn’t want it but they fought for it and got it.scoobymunster wrote: ↑20 May 2022, 17:48Our DOM took early retirement but was fair with giving reserves their share of saturdays off. Re: Told to look for new job.
Ours was the other way round, all the reserves are full-time and everyone else got 1 in 4. GENIUS.
Yep that's right, people with nearly 20 years service are reserves and all new starter part-timers get a duty.

Isn't the message from the top now, if you don't like it then try and find a job with better terms?

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Dig your heels in. Pay rise coming and two more hours off the working week left to go.

Re: Told to look for new job.
I think that it is a good thing to look for alternative employment.
This is going to broaden your horizon.
Your dim sounds like he doesn't want to help you.
I don't like to tar them all with the same brush but they do tend to be lazy.
Perhaps if you wrote to HR detailing the problem and his response, and the fact that you are now looking for alternative employment, he might get a kick up the backside.
Very difficult to say, without knowing the problem.
I hope your Rep sorts it.
