Calls added to job not on frame
There is a rural job in our office which has had new houses and units added, but after a year there are still no slots on the frame. There are about 90 extra calls. The job has gone from 3 hours 30 to over 5 hours.
Managers don’t care and expect the opg to sort through and deliver the growth.
Total joke, why is there no procedure for adding new calls?

An hour and a half to do 90 houses seems a lot.

If they are not on the frame then how do you know they are on the delivery, put them in a tray hand them to the manager tell them you don't have these delivery points.

Re: Calls added to job not on frame
Given the OP is on a rural I can believe it. There’s a rural round here where just 6 addresses take you 25 minutes. I’m sure there will be rounds up in the highlands where fewer calls take even longer.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: Calls added to job not on frame
This happens regularly. The postcodes are tagged to the nearest walk in Route Manager (formerly a plus) supposedly on a temporary basis, because they have to go somewhere. It starts with a handful of calls which isn't an issue, then becomes a problem when it gets to 50 calls. The postie doesn't want the DP's adding to the frame for fear of it appearing that the new calls have been accepted, but also does not want to sort the mail in piles on the frame either. Managers say take it on Tuesdays, then it becomes whenever it can be delivered within the duty time. Everyone argues over this excess, why should I have these extra calls? 'I picked this job which had 500 calls not 600'. I'm not taking it. The postie never gets credit for taking it, but gets frowned upon when it's left in for someone else to take it.

Re: Calls added to job not on frame
I’ve found new build properties/estates take longer as they get a lot more parcels, particularly from Scamazon who haven’t added the new development to their delivery network. Plus most of the people who buy these houses are rarely in and haven’t provided safeplaces so most of the parcels end up getting p739’d.
New estates seem to be popping up just about everywhere now. One duty in my office has had three new developments in different parts of the town and none of them have been added to the frame making sorting a nightmare. You have to put them in a pile and put them in order manually when bundling up. You’ll also often get a mailshot for every address (usually tv license death threats), including the houses that haven’t even had the foundations dug out for.

Re: Calls added to job not on frame
Are the new places near the edge of the area covered by the walk?

On a side note, do these extra new builds just get put on the duty? Basically a large hotel (1 delivery point) has or will become 50 - 60 delivery points as houses plus a care home are being built on the land!!
We struggle to complete as it is and sometimes we actually don't!

New development should be part of the weekly resource meetings, why would anyone just accept it lumped on to their duty?

Re: Calls added to job not on frame
Some of it will probably depend on where the new DPs are located within the area covered by the walk. You've also got to take into account how many DPs any other walks bordering the new builds have gotsixfoottwo wrote: ↑13 May 2022, 15:47On a side note, do these extra new builds just get put on the duty? Re: Calls added to job not on frame
Something I simply don't understand about Royal Mail is why we can't prepare properly for new build. If TV licensing know what the addresses are in a new development, why the hell can't my office get frames ready with those addresses on when/before they are built, not 2+ years later. Surely an organisation that is responsible for delivering to every address in the country could be a bit more proactive, not reactive! It's ridiculous and so inefficient.sixfoottwo wrote: ↑13 May 2022, 15:47I had this todayJpro747 wrote: ↑13 May 2022, 08:32I’ve found new build properties/estates take longer as they get a lot more parcels, particularly from Scamazon who haven’t added the new development to their delivery network. Is there not a way of liaising with the local council/developers on this a bit more?

Re: Calls added to job not on frame
As I thought really then, they will put them on my walk as I previously delivered to that 1 DP and expect me to do the 50+ DP's in the same time!SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑13 May 2022, 19:25Some of it will probably depend on where the new DPs are located within the area covered by the walk. Re: Calls added to job not on frame
No point in adding them before they've physically been built as you'd end up with ghost DPs on the systemLenston wrote: ↑13 May 2022, 22:07Something I simply don't understand about Royal Mail is why we can't prepare properly for new build.
