Tracked parcel fiddle

Anyone else noticed that quite a few tracked parcels are reaching to the delivery offices with the weights on the labels being well under the actual weight.
Today I had a few that were printed as 800 gram that were in fact 25kg.
Surely they must get checked otherwise a lot more will cotton on to it or don't they bother at the Mail Centres?

Flagged one up with Revenue protection ages ago, they weren't intrested

Post offices often accept oversize or overweight items, often to avoid conflict.

I was once told that the system has an error and does not show the correct weight, but this may well have been a fob off.

I’ve delivered 2 items to the same address from the same person, pay for one label online but print 2 copies and you’ve got free postage on one item.

For ease the big account customers will have a deal with RM where average weight of their postings is used, rather than specific and exact weights and sizes are used. Presumably RP sends out a red X request occasionally to ensure the average is still within an agreed tolerance.

No idea why the cheeky ones who print their own labels and post in a postbox are allowed to get away with it though

Yep we've had a few. Just hand them back into the locker and they send them off to RP.

Hopefully the sender gets charged extra, but seeing as how RM's been delivering unfranked mail, and packets, for decades (and doesn't seem too worried about it) I doubt it.

They probably get sent straight back to you. I took one once over to RP where you could easily feel the actual weight was way, way over the "declared" weight (what was printed on it). They sent it straight back over to us as they weren't interested

Just write SURCHARGE on it and take it to the appropriate place, if it comes back just send it back again

On the whole, no one really cares anymore. If it's got a valid address it'll be sorted and sent on to the next office, stamped or Tracked. You might get the odd person who still cancels un-cancelled stamps but on the whole they don't get done. I doubt that there's the hours available for doing so anyway

and parcels with the same label on and you get 'Do you want to cancel' when you scan, perhaps the second one ought to go as a raffle prize at Christmas!

Other courier labels...send it to RP & it will come back with a surcharge.

Two parcels with the same label. Manager just says deliver it.

Big companies with a parcel weighing 10kg that has a label say 500g, deliver it as the company has average weights & parcels that RP check every so often. So this is not a fiddle

I've experienced all these issues, but simply don't care as it's clear the company doesn't want me to.

The no postage paid packets are funny, how on earth do these get through!?
