Annual leave

Started in December, wasn't made aware of the annual leave situation until a week ago. Apparently you start booking holiday for this year's entitlement from the September before. Now left with three weeks to choose from and the likelihood of no annual leave until 2023. Where do I stand with this? I've dug my heels in about it but they don't seem to care. I've never known it like this with any previous employment, usually you can't book any holiday until your new entitlement comes in for that period.

Feel like I've been shafted by management who can't explain basic procedures. They took dates off me when I started of the weeks I had pre-booked but didn't feel it was necessary to make me aware I need to put in the rest of my annual leave for the next year's entitlement period.

You are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks including bank holidays, as far as I'm aware, slots need to be available for you to fulfill that requirement.

it's up to them to find slots, you can demand that they do this but you won't necessary your choices,
you are allowed to carry over a maximum of 5 days worth of hours, but that is debatable, you need to get a rep involved asap

There's only a few days available in the weeks that I've requested, I was given the holiday rota and told to choose weeks where there is availability, there only seems to be three. Some weeks there's the odd day here or there. They are being a right pain about the whole situation. They said they'll let me know tomorrow whether the weeks I've chosen are any good if not then I'll have to have a month off in January, which isn't going to work..
