Bank Holiday entitlement

This is a new one on me.

HR are telling me that because my rest days fell on the Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday, I'm not going to get those hours added to my annual leave.

Surely that cannot be correct?

I've always had it credited back in the past so I cannot understand why they're telling me otherwise now.

I'll get it back somehow if that's the way they want to play it.

Yes, that's what's always happened in the past yet he's saying I'm not entitled to it.

After approaching HR, they are saying the same but I cannot understand why.

You can have lieu days or have it paid in OT
If they won’t do that get on to the union they’ll represent you even if your not in the CWU

Bank and public holidays
In Royal Mail:
• If a bank holiday falls on a day you would normally work, you take the day off.
• If your rest day falls on a bank holiday, your manager will check if workload allows for you to have another day off that week.
• If you are unable to take another day off, you can either:
 add the day to your annual holiday entitlement; or
 take the excess hours paid as overtime. This will be paid at the Monday to Saturday overtime rate

What time off can be taken
A bank holiday falls on a day that an employee is not scheduled to work Where an employee’s work pattern would either miss, hit fewer or more bank or public holidays:
 The employee’s hours should be adjusted the week before or after the bank holiday allowing them the time off
 Where possible this should be done by pre-scheduling the attendance pattern in advance across the year

Bank and public holiday entitlements for part-time employees Royal Mail Group (except HR Services) Part-time employees who work at least four days a week:
 Are entitled to the same time off as full-time employees
 If their work pattern means that they miss a bank or public holiday the time off should be given as close to the particular holiday as possible
If an employee works three or fewer days a week:
 The total bank holiday entitlement should be reduced pro-rata to a five day week (rounded to the nearest half day)

Its not correct ,you are legally entitled to Bank Holidays be it paid or in taken in lieu or credited back to annual leave.
RM cannot just alter terms of entitlement as contracted.

My manager is now saying I will get 2 days back. HR are still saying I won't.

Can anyone advise - my day off falls on next saturday (rolling day off) but with Monday being a bank holiday my new DOM is saying that Monday is my day off??? so i'd have to work Sat. Is this right

Your rep should make sure that your day off is honored, and obviously, you made plans for that Saturday right?
This happens a lot and is wrong.

Thanks for the reply. Ive 'obviously' plans on my day off ;) but ive been here a year and theyre still playing games rarher than just straight up asking if i could work the Saturday.

I was paid 4hrs for good Friday but checking my wage slip for this week I haven't been paid for Easter Monday

I am on a 20hr contract (Reserve)but work 4/5 days weekly between 30/40 hrs

I don't have set days off just random ones and always work Mondays

Would I be right in thinking I should of been paid or credited ( would that be in holiday hours section of the people app)for the BH Monday

Do you have a fixed duty or are you a reserve? They can unfortunately do that to reserves.

On a fixed duty, have been since November but just had a couple weeks leave and cam back to a new DOM
