CWU Annual Conference Liverpool 2008

Further to LTB 367/07 dated 23rd April 2007, arrangements have been made with the Mersey Partnership to assist branches who wish to take up their service of providing accommodation for CWU conference 2008.

A special web page has been set up on www.conferencebookings.co.uk inserting the following code TMPCWU08.

A direct link has also been placed on the CWU web page.

Having consulted with the Officers of the Postal Standing Orders Committee it has been agreed that forms to submit motions to Postal Conferences 2008 will be distributed during this month. The closing date for the submission of motions will be 3 April 2008.

wonder if anyone from the northern ireland numb 1 branch will be at conference this year as they have had no branch elections for over 2 years because of dirty deeds being done by some people over there to make sure the same old faces attend yet again like last year and the year before

Yes that was my first thought too - no doubt he'll be laying on the "accent" and being one of the boys for a week - many of the northern branches will be there and he and his buddy are fast losing support in the nether regions - it's looking like he's getting ready to ditch his sidekick or am I just an old cynic.

With Pullinger going up against Ward it does look like there is a power play in the offing. Perhaps we could have a female General Secretary.

I would think the main reason for Liverpool would be to reduce costs.
Main considerations are suitably sized (and affordable) venue, accessability, and sufficient accomodation
for delegates.

Apparently we are the first big union to use this Conference venue and in a bid to attract others to the facility the CWU picked it up very cheap in comparison to Bournemouth / Blackpool
