Annual Leave Carry over

I carried over 82.5 hours from last year (3 weeks leave as was on 27.5 hour contract). Late March got made up to 32 hours so now the hours carried over only make up 2 weeks and 2 days not 3 weeks.

Is this right? And even if correct is it fair?

All previous work places leave is counted in days, not hours.......

Think it is right, RM has been using PSP for a good few years now. Leave went over to being in hours when RM went over to using PSP

You should have used all leave up last year then there wouldn't be a problem

It is correct, you were gaining leave entitlement in 5.5 hour days but now your working days are longer so each day will use up more hours.

Thought you could only carry lieu days over for 2 years I think
If you don’t use your holidays you lose them that’s what I’ve been told

rules on carry over were relaxed during lockdown but usually i think it's 5 days worth of hours
however this isn't enforced because they just can't thieve them off you, they've got to fit them in if they say you can't carry more over
if our office is the norm, half the staff would be on leave feb/mar

Cheers everyone. Looks like I've just gotta suck it up. The plus side of getting my hours increased and getting all those hours carried over outweighs the downside of losing a few days :-)

Is this why people are getting random weeks annual leave allocated to them without their knowledge, because they are carrying over too much holiday allowance into the next year?

you have to lose the idea of getting days off and get your head round it's in hours, you aren't losing any days off,
we get fri/sat/mon off every 5th week so we can get away with only using mon-thur worth of hours for 9 days off
plan this method for all your weeks off and you will end up with an extra week off in the year,

the only thing wrong with the "hour" system is when you end up with 5 6 or 7ish hours left at the end and not enough to cover a full day off,
honestly i've known a guy having to work the 1st hour of a shift to get the rest off, they wouldn't even let him work over for free any other day blaming the system for not allowing to input it

They're probably lying to cover up the fact that they just don't know how to do it.

If you cancel annual leave or your day off is a bank holiday those hours get added to the system so it obviously can be done.
