What exactly are they? No walking? No lifting of parcels or trolley? No pushing HCT? No bag lifting?

In theory it's to get you back to work but just doing tasks that don't exacerbate the cause of your absence and to aid your full recovery, before you return you'll have a meeting with your manager and there'll be a plan in place over the course of a few weeks with his/her full support to help you get back to being able to do a full duty, during this period your work colleagues will all sympathize with you and do anything they can to help.

The reality however may be different

People who come back on rehab in our place tend to do 1/3rd of there duty for a couple of weeks then half duty then the full duty when they feel upto it .. everyone different but rarely get indoor work to do

1 guy off 6 months with stress, miracle cure going to half pay! given no indoor work and 30/45 mins mail dropped off at his house for a couple of weeks, another guy at the same time off for a few months after an leg op given 2 to 3hrs indoor sorting and 1 hour walking

An your a qualified doctor or consultant?? maybe just maybe he cant afford to go on half pay or maybe but more than probable they have been hassled back to work.

but the other guy hobbled in when clearly not fully fit
i was comparing 2 people returning at similar times and their tasks given couldn't have been further apart

Thats why only ohs should be involved in rehabs wtf do managers know.

Most rehabs are Quite simply a way to get you back to work and do not involve Occupational Health.
Say ,you have a fit note for a strained back which states phased return.

However,the term phased is often misinterpreted by managers with the word rushed or you are given a task of Prepping D2Ds for six hours which destroys your soul.
