Working Easter Sunday?

Any one else at other depots down for working Easter Sunday? I have been given Thursday and Saturday as my days off aswell has having good Friday an Easter Monday off. Not a clue on what we will be doing.

Hi postie! You’ll be most likely be doing LATs (Tracked) on the Scheduled Attendance rate.

Couldn’t tell you how many parcels you’ll get but if you’re anything like my office you’ll get about 30, end up working only 2 hours and end up getting paid for the day.

If this is true (which I doubt) I'll be asking questions next week. I'm on a 32 hour contract including 7 hours on a Sunday and for the last year we have never been allowed to leave early not once. We either deliver forward work or put in door to doors when we get back to the depot.
If this is indeed not nonsense then it's indicative of the problems this company currently faces.

I absolutely agree.

And it’s completely true. Our office will get probably about 300 odd tracked parcels every Sunday and get in about 10 people do deliver them all. It certainly doesn’t take 5/6 hours to deliver, say, the odd 20 that you have, but you still end up getting the whole rate anyway.

It doesn’t make business sense. At all. On any planet. And yet it is.

Why shouldn't posties get paid a full day for a few hours work on a Sunday? Ever heard of incentive?
Get what you can! Times haven't been easy these past 2 years regarding living costs
Let royal mail pay 19 pound an hour for agency workers if not..

I've already done a Sunday a few month back after loading route into my PDA said it would take 2 and half hour so was made to take one loop and then finished. Makes no sense to me either why they pay 6 hour for 3 or so hour work.

I can get onboard with this obviously but you're missing the point. What's good for one office (leaving early) should be good for all. Why should I put door to doors in for hours on end to make up my 7 hours when other offices are allowed to leave early. It's f***ing ridiculous.

Is your office staffed on a Sunday by RM employees or is it agency?

Depends on the manager working the Sunday.

One lets you finish & go as he wants to go asap. Another asks u to do d2d for maybe an hour and go. Another makes u work to ur time. Needless to say when the work to ur time manager is in we're short staffed. When the other two are in we'll clear all LATS even if it means we have to extend.

On another note WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DELIVER MAIL ON SUNDAYS according to our managers. They checked with their superiors.

The agency guys are getting nearly £19/hour. We are getting £14/hour (we do it adhoc volunteers) yet we are nearly twice as productive as them. God knows what the agency charges RM

MANAGER in on a Sunday? Wouldn't see hide nor hair of one at our place on a Sunday. If RM have screwed up with their overestimated forecasts of how many would use LAT service, that's their lookout. If I have 2 hrs worh allocated to me then that's not my problem I'll do them and try extra hard not to bring any back because I have more time.

I was asked to work Easter Sunday. I was asked in the depot car park, whilst loading my van, at 9.30am Saturday. Manager was surprised and annoyed that I said no, and said "well what plans can you have? It's Easter Sunday, there's nothing better to do"

In my office, apart from a small handful, even the eight hours pay for a few hours work, is not enough to get anyone to come in on a Sunday, so most Sunday LATs are having to be done by agency workers

It was my rota day to work. Only one York of parcels came in for 4 people so ended up taking 3 loops of walking out. The Sunday working doesn't make any sense.
