PDA Actuals

Post by SillyBilly »

They keep blabbing o nabout the pda actuals of rounds ,but surely the readings are void if o na regular basis due to low staff levels , a round is just done tracked only ? What sometimes happens also is the local bosses favourite agrees to take two or three lots of cherry picked items ,but only logs on to the one duty? Or is it me being paraonoid.

Hes saying that the PDA actual figures are skewed because if you scan a dutys barcode onto your PDA but only deliver the tracked and no mail, then it looks doable but ultimately it failed.

And if the people doing Overtime take out a few walks worth of OT but leave their PDA logged in after scanning the original dutys barcode in the morning - it makes that duty look heavier
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

I don't think it should matter that much as the pda data includes GPS details so presumably even Royal Mail management can see what addresses/route has actually been delivered and how long it takes even if it's not in it's entirety but made up of sections of a full duty.

The key report they run when using PDA actuals in our office is stationary time which shows up as yellow dots on the map. They can categorise them as short 2-3 minute stops but they can also see any time you are doing nothing for 20 or more minutes and where you are doing nothing. Like all things RM if you're doing the job properly you have nothing to worry about.

As more and more automation gets introduced in MCs, RM will have more and more data for use with geoRoute

I've been called in over this once, and had to explain that I'd left the pda in the van (not deliberately) as the tracked were so heavy I did them all first then ran round with 3 loops of mail. On the third loop I hit a recorded letter and realized I had no pda on me...
