Hi folks.
Can anyone advise me on this please?
If a member of staff misses their footing on a set of steps whilst out delivering, resulting in an injury, should this be classed as an injury at work and be treated as such by RM?
It was reported correctly and all paperwork was completed.
TIA

Re: Injury at work classification
It is an accident on duty and needs to be recorded in the ERICA
An accident is an UNFORSEEN event that RESULTS in personal injury or damage to property
An Incident is an UNFORSEEN event that has the POSSIBILITY to cause personal injury or damage to property
If absent for over seven days, they must complete a RIDDOR report within 15 days of the injury
It needs to be reported to the DWP and recorded as an industrial injury. This protects future disability payments if required and also a legal requirement if absent from work

This member of staff has had their pay reduced to half at the 6 month point as RM are claiming that it isn't an accident at work.
It was recorded on ERICA as well as the RIDDOR report.

Re: Injury at work classification
What justification are they saying is that it is not an accident at work?
Has Royal Mail reasoning recorded in the ERICA it was not an accident and why?
The RIDDOR confirms it was an injury on duty.
Was a root cause analysis completed?

Re: Injury at work classification
If Royal Mail is saying it was not an accident, that means the employee was negligent with personal health and safety unless force majeur was a factor

I'm currently making enquiries for her. In the mean time, I've told her to raise a grievance.
Thanks again for your response.
