Hi guys
i have just transferred to Royal Mail from Royal Mail Relay after the NHS covid -19 contract ended
i served for 8 months at Relay and here is my question
I've just been paid my first week at Royal Mail and they have put me on a new starter rate of £10.85 instead of the 6+ months rate of £11.45 is this right

I’m assuming relay is an agency ? If so then yes it’s right . I started on agency did 8 month myself and then got took on from Royal Mail themselves , they don’t count what you’ve done with an agency as working for them as it’s a different company so in short you hVe to work 6 months on royal mails payroll to qualify for that pay

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

RM relay is not an agency it is part of Royal Mail ( they used to do the blue gas boxes to the DOs). Not entirely sure what the answer is for this as relay whilst part of royal mail group is run as a separate business to royal mail (letters) in the same way as parcel force is a separate business so not sure if seniority moves across or not. You may have to take this up with HR to get an answer.
