Suffering from sleep apnoea (and bad knees!)

Any advice? Just recently diagnosed with Obstructive sleep apnoea and have yet to get the (CPAP) device. Not really over weight, non smoker and non drinker and sleep on my side. But still feel crap after a "good" nights sleep! On a HCT duty. Hopefully will feel more alert once I am on the treatment. Any others out there?

Yup. Tried the mask, haven't got a hope in hell of getting to sleep wearing a mask.

On zombie duty til I can lose a bit weight.

I've worn a Cpap for the last 3 years,For my snoring mainly! Still wake up a few times in the night with the odd good nights kip now and again.No more snoring but,the Mrs still moans about the noise of the machine,can't win lol

It's actually quite serious - my Uncle died from it. He had had a minor operation and was recovering and due to the anaesthetic was unable to wake himself up (like people do with this condition when they gasp for air in their sleep as they effectively stop breathing properly) when he was disconnected from the operation stuff and put in a recovery ward. The hospital was unaware he had this condition for some reason and he stopped breathing during that night for too long and passed away. Basically suffocated. Yes, it's usually associated with quite heavy people but not exclusively, and increases with age too.

Yes I’ve been living with osa and have to go back on cpap. Do you have to tell Royal Mail you have osa and can they make adjustments to your duty as I’m wrecked with the long walks.

My DIM and RM knew about my condition. They didn't give a toss and actually added more roads to my round! Thank goodness I got out!

Sorry to hear this. You will need to get an occupational health referral so that they are aware. Normally they may suggest a re hab plan but iam not sure how this would work out if your condition effects you long term.
