It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

So we are going back to the old divisions The only problem especially with London region is that its not a fully functioning one as they have 1 MC but most of the areas within London are covered by MCs outside the actual division like JMC, Greenford, Croydon and Romford

And what are we talking about Salary wise here
£100, 000 plus
What fundamental changes can they make to improve the depots in their area ??
Minimal at best ??
The problems are they same they been for years-still not rectified
Why will this time be any different ??
Boots on the ground-Everyone singing from the same hymn sheet
Been said many times, until it happens nothing will change

Appointment of new Regional Operations Directors
As part of our Delivering for the Future programme, we are fundamentally reshaping the most senior leadership roles in the operation. This includes appointing ten Regional Operations Directors (RODs). The RODs will set the business strategy for each region and be responsible for overall pipeline performance over a much larger geographic areas than the current 20 SDL regions.
This is a significant change. These ten RODs will lead our reinvention in the operation, and it is important that we have the right combination of expertise, inspirational leadership and fresh thinking and approaches.
I am pleased to say that we have appointed five of the new RODs on a permanent basis from our existing leadership population. A further five of our senior operational team have agreed to step up as interim RODs while we recruit new talent into Royal Mail.
From today, the ten RODs are:
North East: Mark Wilkinson
South West/South Wales: Lee Martin
Midlands: Kate Ellis
North West/North Wales: Steve Selby
Scotland: Ross Hutchison
Interim appointments:
London: Steve Molloy (In addition to his permanent appointment leading the Delivery Performance Improvement Team)
South Central: Anthony Thorne
South East: Sean Watson
Northern Ireland: Michael Clarke
Anglia: Adam Pestell
We are also in the process of recruiting the new Field Operations Director. The ten RODs will report into this role. In the meantime, Mark Wilkinson, ROD for the North East, will oversee the day to day coordination between the ten regions.

Talk about making a ROD for your own back.

From a Union point of view, these managerial appointments along with the shuffling of the managerial decks at local level are making me a little nervous.
It worries that Simon is seemingly manoeuvring in open sight, moving his dark forces into a position of poised readiness, whilst the top ranks of the CWU appear stagnant.
I hope I'm wrong. Perhaps Terry, Dave et al are also equally as busy, albeit in the shadows, aligning their sorcerous power to defeat the dark overlords.
Ahem, or something...

The new Regional Operations managers is the closest alignment to the CWU Divisional Boundaries since they were formed in 1992.
Only 6 postcodes sit outside their Divisions and this is due to where there inward mail comes from. Dumfries ,.Telford, Hereford , Worcester , Milton Keynes and Hemel Hempstead.
The London Postcodes remain a Division even thou their inward work comes from mail centres in other Divisions apart from the Mount.
The replacement to OMs will be announced next week and this will be reduced from 86 to 55 Operational Performance Leaders and then they will recruit the COM ( Customer Operational Leaders ) who will replace DOMs and line managers.

Lovely stuff. Now any news on our payrise? I know Terry and Dave won’t be feeling the squeeze financially with their abhorrent salaries but the rest of us sure are. Is this going to drag until November so the Cwu can once again con the membership with some back pay?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑26 Mar 2022, 08:37The new Regional Operations managers is the closest alignment to the CWU Divisional Boundaries since they were formed in 1992.

Talks commence formally next week. As with all companies they wanted to understand their forecasted year on year financial position and outlook.
Name a company who believes they should just pay inflation pay rises ? They don’t exist. Some unions have got deals from previous linked inflation pay rises but even these are at the inferior CPI and not RPI.
Be in no doubt we are serious on pay so let’s hope the members are as well as it might come down to that as well.
Royal Mail have huge pressures from Of Com about hitting efficiencies before any pay rise and their consultation wanted a 5 year efficiency plan.
Our members deserve a good pay rise whether Royal Mail want to willingly give this or whether we have to fight to get this then the CWU at National Level are up for this.
There is a CWU policy forum in Liverpool on Wednesday and Thursday next week where the CWU make policy on Pay , Benefits including 35 hour week , Culture , Productivity, Pipeline including the new parcel Hub , Year 2 revisions, Delivery, Processing , RDCs , Network , collections , Distribution , LA’s and international. In addition we will be debating the attendance procedure, conduct and other policies.
Royal Mail’s position to the pay is they want it linked to year 2 revisions, local office productivity achievements and the future Royal Mail strategy.
So at the moment there is no real update. However whilst we all feel the pressure so do Royal Mail they are being hit with the national insurance costs and the added fuel costs.
You know one of their answers is they want to save money by no longer using airplanes to transport the mail and move exclusively to road or rail. The end result is that start times in deliveries would have to move later to connect to achieve the USO.
Would you accept that for a RPI inflation linked pay rise ?
No I thought not and neither will we , but simply demanding a pay rise is easy but to get the employer to pay it without unacceptable strings is a totally different proposition.
When there is an update we will give one. Hopefully after the policy forum next week.

You would be better directing that at Terry.simply demanding a pay rise is easy but to get the employer to pay it without unacceptable strings is a totally different proposition.
He's the one who "demanded" an above inflation, no strings pay deal not us. Perhaps if people like yourself weren't so keen to champion last year's abysmal and quite frankly embarrassing 1% pay rise we wouldn't be sliding rapidly backwards as far as real pay is concerned and desperately needing to at least keep pace with inflation this year?
I also think the word "on time" was used by Terry so bearing in mind they aren't even starting talks until on time is up maybe that's another thing you should be questioning.
As for you bringing up Royal Mail’s fuel costs, join the club, my heart bleeds. Stop making excuses for them.

Instead of "culture" can the CWU call is what it is and demand a stop of all bullying and harassment. Until that happens I don't believe they take it seriously.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

It is pretty simple
RM paid 100's millions to shareholders - they can afford a decent pay rise...simple as that
No excuses whatsoever
