Is mine bigger than yours.
Fairly new starter who acquired a training frame.
We have our regular 12.30 finishes who have inherited shorter frames (i.e. terraced and no dead walks)
My question is, how are the loops actually worked out. I have "shorter legs", but 1 loop is over 2 miles with long driveways and dead walks. Do RM have a formula to plan a loop?

Re: Is mine bigger than yours.
Most loops are planned at about 40 minutes but I reality they could be shorter or longer depending on things you mention like type of houses and how affluent the area is, these things aren't really accounted for despite what the planners and managers say.
Despite all rounds supposedly being equal, in reality they won't ever be so some will be easier and quicker to do than others.
As a new starter you won't get a sniff of any of the better rounds until you've got another 20 years in if your office is anything like the majority around the country

Thanks Citypostie,
I would have thought the revision would have made things a little more equal......roll on year 2042.

If your own your own walk you can make your own loops up when youve got to now the walk better. Most walks are 6 loops but ive put some in our office up to 12 loops when ive done them before because its lighter to carry and quicker to do.

Carrying the trolleys would seem excessive I think they are easier to push than carry.

To loosely parody George Orwell, All walks are equal, it's just some walks are more equal than others!

I'm not sure ours are organised as 'Loops' but an average walk is 15 miles and somewhere between 5-6 hours to complete.

Re: Is mine bigger than yours.
I wouldn't say you need to be a duty holder to make your own loops. You need to know a round very well in order chop it up the way you like. It will take a longer time to tie up and load but it's down to experience rather than ownership of the walk in my opinion.2yearpostie wrote: ↑18 Mar 2022, 07:43If your own your own walk you can make your own loops up when youve got to now the walk better. The PDA for the sign in/out will be mounted whether your signing-on desk is located, so no more heading home direct from your walk, everyone will have to return to the DOdaveyeff wrote: ↑22 Mar 2022, 17:38rep mentioned this the other day but he said we will be signing in and out via the PDA. when is it due to come in though?

Van pairs. One lives on the round, the other one is just the mug who drives the van.
At the end of the day, he/she hands the van driver their PDA to take with them back to the office. Is this practice officially finishing then?

Re: Is mine bigger than yours.
Yours is very probably bigger than mine yes.
The planners are not all brilliant, so, when you know it, you do it how you like.
Some driveways are there to be driven down, as the bikes are gone.
And you move the van and put in extra loops to kill the dead walks.
How quick do you want to finish?
They'll just give you extra lapsing.
