Can I keep my duty in resign

Post by Doncorleone »

Evening all, just looking for some advice.
My office is currently going through a repick which most of us are against but our rep is determined to go through with it. My duty hasn't changed but the bloke I van share with his duty has changed very slightly. Anyway I lost my duty in the repick after being on it for a number of years.
I've noticed a couple of threads on here saying that if your duty hasn't changed and you've been on it for over a Year then it can be removed from the repick and you can stay on it.
Can someone please confirm this and explain how I'd go about implementing it as I don't think my rep will want to know.
Many thanks.

Thanks for your reply rogersh.
After reading the agreement and the comments it does seem that I should of had the option to stay on my duty as well as some of my colleagues who are in the same situation but we were not made aware of this. So does this mean the resign should be stopped and start from the beginning again?

Now going to be a spanner in the works and flip the coin.
This is simply my opinion, so treat it as such

The Way Forward agreement 2000, though groundbreaking at the time and well past its sell by date. It is over 20 years old and no longer relevant since introducing delivery methods. But that is not the main reason.

Some of the agreement descriptors now contravene the Equality Act of 2010. The agreement is all but void. You cannot have a commercial contract/agreement that contravenes primary legislation.

A major failing of Royal Mail/CWU is that there is not a single agreement/document incorportaing all previouse agreements as a source of reference for reps and employees to reference. It is all interpretation depending which side of the fence you sit

It's all a bit naughty.
If you have had a major revision then there should be a resign 100%.
From memory the threshold is 30% of duty content changes to trigger a resign.
And this my duty has not changed so I'm not going into it is bollox, personal opinion.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If the office has had a revision there should be a full repick. And it's fun watching people moaning about losing "their" duty. Toys out the pram all over the place. I've lost duties before in repicks and I just got on with it

+1 from me, this same question keeps cropping up, to me it's on par with the other recurring one which is the unfortunate postie being moved off "his" duty that he's been on forever and they all love him to bits bollox.

I dont personally have a problem with resigns that include everyone based on seniority

Everyone will be where they should be in the pecking order - if someone 'takes' your duty then its because they are more senior. Everyone knows where they stand.

The problem is when they start doing resigns and designating the outdoor work Part time and full time.

imo to do it properly they should split the outdoor stuff from the indoor stuff. Have the outdoor stuff done on seniority (both ft and pt in the same list). Then have all the indoor stuff split between the ft staff

You have to have Pt Duties for Staff who only want to Work there contracted hours , be that 20 , 25 , 30 or what ever there contracted hours are

Yes but its the indoor element that the majority of those PT dont do - doesnt affect the outdoor

Essentially what has happened is Full timers at the bottom of the 'full time' seniority list arent able to choose walks designated as part time but are then designated to sort that walks frame before the PT comes in to deliver it. All the while being a reserve and so going to deliver another walk that day.

If Double Preping is not factored into the Ft Duty , this must have an effect on the Out Door element of the Ft Duty
If you have Pt Duties there should be Ft Duties designated to Double Prep

Full timers are treble prepping in my office some days nevermind double prepping

All outdoor deliveries are equal in span....or supposed to be

If your van share partner's duty has changed then so has your duty content if not the duty itself.

As has been pointed out the Way Forward does not exactly reflect the way we work now so it's more a set of very ropey guiding principles than a rule book.

Anywhoo a change is as good as a rest they say so as I said to Postman Pete the other day..just suck it up and move on.
