RMCtv : The Crown Awards : Win 40,000 pounds
What are the Crown Awards?
A high-profile, long-term engagement & recognition programme/competition with a 'once-in-alifetime' prize. It will be run entirely on Workplace.
Who is eligible to participate?
All employees of Royal Mail Group plc who have a 'claimed' or active account on Workplace –
including RMPFSL, can nominate or be nominated. Teams can also be nominated.
What is the prize?
The ultimate winner wins ‘A postbox full of cash - £40,000!’ (including the postbox if the winner
chooses!) There will then be three runners-up winning £10,000, £5,000 and £2,000. As part of the
Grand Prize, an Individual Employee winner will have the option to take up to one calendar month of
unpaid leave (the Promoter will backfill the role during that calendar month of unpaid leave at the
Promoter's expense) (note a member of a Team is not eligible to take unpaid leave). Monthly
winners win an iPad (or £350 shopping vouchers) and runners-up win a £50 shopping voucher.
All employees who are shortlisted will be contacted and will be able to donate their prize to the
Rowland Hill Fund if they prefer.
How will it work?
The competition will begin on 10 March 2022 at midday and will run for nine months, with nine
monthly competitions to win an iPad or shopping vouchers.
People across the business will nominate colleagues and teams against the criteria (see criteria FAQ),
people on Workplace will ‘like’ the nominations they think are most deserving and at the end of
every month the nominations close and two people/teams will enter a mini-poll on Workplace:
a) the entry with the most nominations
b) the most deserving (the single nomination with the most likes on Workplace, to account for
smaller locations/teams with fewer opportunities for nominations)
The one with the most likes wins at the end of the poll will win an iPad (or £350 shopping vouchers
for a team) and secures a place on the shortlist for the main prize. The runners-up wins a £50
voucher.
At the end of the month after the poll, the competition re-sets to zero meaning everyone has an
equal chance again of winning to keep people engaged for the rest of the year.
The nine winners of the monthly competitions, plus a wildcard entry (decided by a panel, from a
shortlist of the most liked nominations outside of the winners), will be entered into a final poll the
entry with the most votes/likes wins the main cash prize in December 22. The second, third and

Who can nominate someone?
Anyone with a claimed Workplace account can nominate anyone else with a claimed Workplace
account, as long as it meets the criteria. You cannot nominate someone who isn’t. If you nominate a
team, the whole team has to have their Workplace account activated.
• Make sure the nomination meets the criteria
• Go to Workplace and find the Crown Awards group
• Create a post, stating
o who they are – tag them by typing @their name and clicking on them
o why you are nominating them
o what they have done to meet the criteria
Remember, the better your nomination the more likely they are to receive votes
Can I nominate a team?
Yes, you can nominate a team, the prize would the same and the team would be responsible for
sharing that prize between them. Instead of an iPad, a prize of £350 shopping vouchers can be
selected.
How do I tag a team?
You will put the name of the team and tag at least one representative individual member of the
team, or the entire team if known, or possible.
I don’t have anyone to nominate, how do I get involved?
The Crown Awards are based on colleague nominations, but also on colleague likes and votes, keep
looking at the Crown Award pages, read the nominations and like the ones that you think are most
worthy, throughout each month, at the end of the month, keep an eye out for the poll and voting on
the two shortlisted nominations.
I work in a small office so won’t get lots of nominations, how is this fair?
That’s why we have included the most nominated and the most liked nominations as two separate
criteria – we want to make sure those people who are doing a great job, wherever they are based,
have a chance of winning the big prize.
The person I want to nominate isn’t on Workplace what do I do?
Speak to the person and encourage them to claim their Workplace account. People can only win if
they have an active account on Workplace.
Frontline colleagues with an @royalmail.com email address, can find log-in details on the People
App, on the Workplace tile. Once you have the username (@royalmail.co.uk) and password, follow
the step-by-step instructions at www.myroyalmail.com/workplace, or refer to this poster. Here’s a
quick guide:
• Take a note of the username and initial password
• Click on 'Go to Workplace'
• In Workplace click LOG-IN
• Enter the @royalmail.co.uk username, you’ll need to do this twice (don’t use a personal
email address here as it won’t work)
• Enter the password from the tile - you’ll also need to do this twice
• Change the password to something memorable
• You’ll be asked to set up some details to help you reset your password, in case you
forget it in future
• You should now be in in
• Any issues please email RMCommunications@royalmail.com
IT connected users with an @royalmail.com email address
Log in using their email address (@royalmail.com) as the username and their windows password
(the one they use to log-in to a Royal Mail PC).
How do I nominate someone?
People nominate colleagues/team members for being brilliant by tagging them ‘@name’ on
Workplace in the Crown Awards group. You can be nominated by a peer, a manager or a customer
(via a colleague, manager or the existing customer compliments process/CE) either as an individual
or a team in one of four criteria (see criteria).
What are the criteria for nominations?
Anyone with a claimed Workplace account can nominate anyone else with a claimed Workplace
account according to one of four criteria:
1. Great service for our customers
2. Great productivity
3. Living our values – Be Brilliant, Be Part Of It, Be Positive
• Be Positive – give it a go, trust each other, say thank you
• Be Brilliant – deliver great service, do the little things well, find a better way
• Be Part Of It – listen to each other, support each other, appreciate diversity
4. Going above and beyond - exceptional circumstances or actions taken such as saving a life
etc.
How do we decide who wins?
At midday on the last day of every month the nominations close and the person or team with a) the
most individual nominations and b) the most deserving (the single nomination with the most likes on
Workplace, to account for smaller locations/teams with fewer opportunities for nominations) are
shortlisted for a mini-poll on Workplace, the one with the most likes at the time the poll closes, wins
an iPad (or shopping vouchers to an equivalent value for a team) and secures a place on the shortlist
for the main prize. The runner up wins a £50 voucher.
At the end of the month after the poll, the competition re-sets to zero meaning everyone has an
equal chance again of winning.
This process continues for nine months and in December all the monthly winners, plus an additional
Wildcard, are entered into a Workplace poll for the main prize, the most votes/likes wins the main
cash prize in December. The second, third and fourth most likes win the runners up cash prizes.
The Wildcard ensures your chances of being shortlisted don't diminish as you go through the year.
The Wildcard will be taken from a shortlist of most liked nominations outside of the winners and a
panel, The Crown Awards Committee, will decide.
How will we know who has the most likes at a certain point in time?
We will take a screen shot at the exact time of the close of each monthly nominations to have proof
of who received the most likes.
How will the winner be paid?
The winner will be paid through payroll subject to normal HMRC deductions. For more, read our
terms and conditions.
What if a team is the overall winner?
If a Team wins the Grand Prize, the Grand Prize will be split in equal parts between all Employees in
the Team who meet the criteria stated in paragraph 5. Team members who do not have a claimed
account on Workplace will not be eligible to win.
How does this fit into our broader recognition and engagement activity?
This award aims to drive employee engagement, contribute to culture shift through rewarding
demonstration of living the values and to reward brilliant performance through
productivity/performance in role.
Managers across the business can use the Crown Awards to drive employee engagement and as a
mechanism for rewarding their own team locally. For example, our new Regional Operations
Directors could use the nominations submitted for The Crown Awards to award regional prizes each
month. We will encourage and facilitate this.
Who is on The Crown Awards Committee?
This is an independent panel which will govern the programme, enforce the T&Cs and serve as
adjudicators when there is a tie-break situation. See Ts&Cs for details.
Terms & conditions – a link to the full T&Cs can be found in the Crown Awards Workplace Group
and on myroyalmail.com.
Can I ‘opt out’ of the competition?
When monthly winners are identified, we will give them a week to confirm they want to continue,
and the opportunity to opt out if they wish.

Workplace must be run by the same “team” that issues press releases from the Russian Government. Totally detached from reality and full of their own grandiose self importance. Don’t forget team Simon appreciates and loves us, just not quite enough to give us a decent pay rise.

Seems the screws have hijacked this, looks like this bloke could win, there are tons of votes for him all copy/pasted, lol
I would like to nominate Gary Sassoon-Hales (National Chair Unite/CMA) for his continued dedication to ALL managers welfare, terms & conditions etc. and as he has pledged the money if he wins to the Ukrainian Charity Fund, he would be a very worthy winner….

Let's hope he wins purely on the basis of giving the money to the Charity Fund.
Rather than trying to bribe staff into signing up for propaganda, if RM had a spare £40,000 kicking around it would have been better spent sending it to the same fund!

Hilarious
I like the way you'll get taxed on it too.
Can't see many people dashing over to register. What's the point of this Workplace anyway, i don't get it. Most staff are only interested in getting paid and going home.

Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee and, of course, Charlie Bucket. Willy Wonka's five Golden Ticket winners. Will you be next?
You are in with a chance of winning £500 in shopping vouchers – you could treat yourself to 500 Wonka bars, or something else?
We’re sending all Royal Mail Group employees a Golden Ticket that contains a unique number.
Five of those tickets are worth £500 - all you have to do is log-on to Workplace, go to the Golden Ticket group, and see the post at the top of the group, which will show five winning numbers. If your unique number matches one of the five numbers on the group, you are one of our winners!
Golden Tickets are now in the post… thank you for delivering these special tickets!
Yours sincerely, Willy Wonka!
PS: If you haven’t logged on to Workplace yet, instructions are provided in the Golden Ticket packs or are available here. The packs also include reminders of usernames and initial passwords, for people without a business email address. Usernames and initial passwords can also be found on the Workplace tile of the People App.
