Does anyone not go into the Delivery Office?

Just wondering if any of you or your colleagues do not enter the RM Delivery Offices because of Health vulnerabilities or other issues relating to Covid.
Perhaps on reduced hours doing delivery only?

We have one PT/er who won't come in, but that's not anything to do with health or safety, he refuses to do anything other than delivery (because "that's the job they sold to me so that's the job I'm going to do.") He comes in at his exact time and waits by the exit, if you're on with him you have to sign his PDA out and collect him on the way to the van. He then spends the route repeatedly saying what exact minute you need to cut off in order to return him to the depot within his time, whereupon he hops out of the van and goes home leaving you to empty the van and sign the PDAs back in.
If you say- for example- "there's only 10 minutes work left, we could just finish it and claim a few minutes overtime," he will call every postie he knows in the vicinity to try and get a lift back.

Sounds like a bellend.
Yet he has a point.
They advertise these jobs and expect twice as much as soon as you’re in the door. No wonder turnover is so high.
My contract was 25 hour when I started, so like 9-2.
I do full time hours though, well anywhere from 35-40 most weeks, ever since I started, it’s fine for me and works better, more money early finishes. Can see why some take their contract literally though, it’s essentially exactly what is advertised.

Wish more adopted this attitude as against working for free and generally facilitating the company taking the piss out of them.

Once sign-in/sign-out goes live in DOs he will have to go in

It makes you wonder how he passed the probationary period.
Refusing a reasonable request usually has one outcome.

Why are you signing out & signing in his PDA. That is part of his job, without a PDA he can't do his job. Stop pandering to him & tell him to get it himself, if he refuses tell manager, it's not your problem but don't keep getting it for him, he's taking you for a mug.

So does he start delivering mail from the first second of his contracted hours till the last?

Good luck to him - managers always play the "'it's in your contract" spiel when trying it on...well he is doing the same to them...a contract goes both ways
