Part Time Pay Rate help please.

Finally after over 18 months of being on agency and getting laid off at Xmas eve with all the big mess in recruitments etc...

I have my contract finally signed and sealed after it being postponed.

On mm contract this is what it states regarding pay....

Subject to Clause 12 (Pension Benefits), your starting pay will be at the rate of £412.24 per week (pro rata for part time)

This is for a 24hr contract.

What I'm trying to work out is what my hourly rate will be?

I'm assuming that rate they quote includes the pension benefits but I have no idea how much of it is allocated for pension?

Otherwise without the pension benefits it equates to £17.17 an hour which I know isn't right.

Any ideas on how to work it out?

Yeah outside of London and that's what I though it would be is the £10.85. What is the attendance and other allowances?

Just trying to work out as we had a dispute going with HR as with agency we got the 6 & 12 month pay increases so on the full high hourly rate.

I was aware we would drop down to basic rate and have to build up again, but these figures don't make much sense so was thinking the dispute might have been passed and we've been kept on the full rate?

On a 24 hour contract you will take home a lot less than that.

What out of that is my actual pay?

Going off the basic rate of £10.85 x 24hrs = £260.40

So where does this £412.24 come into it?

The rate quoted is usually the full time rate, £412.24 divided by 38 hours is £10.85 per hour.

It should be divided by 37 due to the shorter working week, giving a higher hourly rate but the same total. That should make the hourly rate £11.14.

You will also get the Delivery Supplement of around £0.70 per hour.

So you should get £11.84 per hour = £284.16 per week before tax.

Your first 13 hours of overtime should be at that hourly rate, beyond 13 hours and you lose the Delivery Supplement.

Pro rata as it says in your first post.
As a part timer it is a phrase you will hear quite a lot.
Why we feel the need to lapse into Latin I don't know but basically everything you get will be 24/37ths of what is quoted.
(Except crap which as a part timer you will get 100% thrown at you.)

If you were full time, your pay would be £412.24 (£10.85 x 38 hours)

But you will not get that as you are part-time on 24 hours.

So your pro-rata (or part of / proportion of the whole) is 24 x £10.85 = £260.40

Not sure if it helps you but I’m on 28:30 a week and after deductions I get £283
