RMCtv :Simon Thompson : Seasonal hours?

Post by POSTMAN »

Simon 'Every day's a sunny day' Thompson.

seasonal hours - an item for discussion soon? - did you know that we deliver c40% of our annual standard letters/cards in only six weeks of the year?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Yeah short weeks in the summer when the job is just about bearable and long weeks in the winter when it's cold, dark, wet and miserable.

Firstly wtf are you discussing seasonal hours with? Not the CWU if they know what is good for them, I'm a c*** hair away from leaving the union as it is.
Could it be because the other 46 weeks were dedicated to tracked parcels? (jk)
Maybe it's just because the public post so much in those six weeks? Hardly the posties fault. (Jk)
So you should be thinking about getting Joe Public to post all year in time for Xmas (or was that what the monumental fuckup you created all about?) rather than piss about with our hours.

It took our office at least 10 weeks to deliver that 40%. Get people to post earlier (say July onwards) and it would spread the load and increase the chance that we'd actually deliver it on time.

Was this actuals said?

The latest statistics say we delivered 9.5 billion letters in 2021. Are we really being told we delivered around 3.8bn of these in a 6 week period? I simply don’t believe this and must question where these statistics are coming from.

The data is the data you should know that by now.
Also, anything in an RMCtv thread from management is gospel.

Probably from the Professor of Statistics who likes to slag off charities such as the CAB - and starts his statements by telling people that he knows what he is talking about.

How about you just get rid of all the staff and the vans and ask our customers to take the stuff they want posting to the place they want it posting too, thus cutting our costs completely? The data is the data Si?

The only way I can see this being anywhere near accurate is if it was STAMPED letters. However it’s worded in such a way to make it ambiguous. I can’t really blame people for sending fewer letters/cards. We’ve made it so expensive and nobody knows when their item will be delivered. Never mind 1st and 2nd class, we’ve made stamped items 3rd and even 4th class.

why dont they offer vrs to older long term staff who want it and take extra staff on in the winter heavier months why because the union would rather have you workin shitt shifts so as to maximise membership they dont give a shitt about about older staffs wellbeing on delivery while indoor workers get there 4 day shifts on day and nights we get a shorter working week but have more work or the same work thrown at us :mad

Isn’t this why large packages come off at Christmas and we do less lapsing, the rest of year we hardly make much time and are often late anyway and have to cut off
