Hi, find below the Mount Pleasant bulletin of 9 February. We welcome your comments!
HOW'S THIS POSSIBLE?
So according to management there isn't enough
work to even think about giving part-timers the real
full-time jobs many of us want, let alone recruit
brand new workers. And yet they dare to offer
overtime to clear the workload! Yes, some of our
workmates on Lates are doing overtime into the
Night shift, from 5pm to 6.30am! That's a 13.5hrs
shift, isn't it?
SLEEP DEPRIVATION...
This is outrageous in itself. But it's also against the
working time regulations - which haven't yet been
burnt in a bonfire of the regulations - although this is
what Johnson has promised... And how do these
mates get the 11 consecutive hours of rest for any
24hr period (which is actually not even good
enough) they're legally entitled to?!
WE DON'T WANT TO WAIT
So those of us who'd like to leave HMP sooner
rather than later, have heard the number of EVRs on
offer are decreasing rapidly... There was talk of 48
EVRs before Xmas, then managers revised the
number to 40 and now we hear there's going to be
only 30. So they're finally realising that they might
be pushing their luck by cutting too many jobs?
That doesn't change the fact that many of us want to
leave and we should be able to do so if we need to.
NOT BORN YESTERDAY
And of course, we know that those leaving on EVR
(apparently by July) won't be replaced... This is part
of management's "efficiencies" and they're currently
using the Parcel Sorting Machine as an excuse for
these job cuts. Do they really think any of us fall for
this?
NO JOB CUTS
Why are we hearing of job cuts to come for
distribution drivers? We are already short, with 5 or
6 jobs already being done by agency drivers on
Nights! The cuts will apparently be part of the April
re-sign… but not if we have anything to do with it.
TOTAL RECALL
Can anyone tell us why the RM-PFS Elephant has
decided to postpone the cleaners' re-sign? We
thought elephants never forgot... It seems he can't
remember how to cover all the duties. We can
remind him, it's very simple: just get more recruits.
NO PRESSURE!
And of course, what makes things harder for
everyone is that some of us are off sick with
Omicron... But nevertheless, we hope everyone
takes their time to recover!
WHERE'S THE CHEF?
So nothing has been done about the Canteen's Night
shift, has it? We still see the only and lonely canteen
worker dealing with our entire shift! If only they would
put some more staff on, we would be able to have
some real, healthy meals. Which is what we need
working on this horrible shift to keep our immune systems
100%!
PLANTSUSPICIOUS
And what about the "healthy" veggie option we get?
They call the thing "Plantalicious", but we don't
recognise this species... So, what is that fluffy stuff it's
made of? And can it really be sold at the same price
as meat?
ONE WAY OR ANOTHER
We miss Work Time Sleeping, and not just for the
chance to nap! We could at least put our opinions in
front of managers and see how they squirmed. We
have lots of questions at the moment, so if
management are not doing WTS at the moment, we
need to grab them, sit them down, and make them
answer.
HIRE THEM NOW!
What a surprise to see some young faces in the
basement a couple of weeks ago. Were they on some
kind of school work placement? All well and good for
them to come and see what it's like to work here, but
what's the point? Their only "future" in the postal
service (or anywhere else for that matter) is as a temp!
And precisely, casual work has to be a target for the
next big working class fight-back!
MANAGEMENT&TP LTD.
Anyone see that joint statement issued by CWU and
RM about "Quality of Service"? TeePee was doing his
best to be a management mouthpiece, telling us how
"our" business failed customers, and how "we" have to
sort this out! And btw, who has "nowhere to hide"?
He was talking as if he owned the place. RM really
ought to at least put him on the payroll...
WHERE'S THE BALLOT?
We'd like to know what's going on with the Unite-CMA
ballot over the latest management job cuts. The last
we heard, there was going to be a consultation - but if
managers want to prevent them, surely they have to
get off their backsides and do something about it?
TELLING
We see that the financial press reports that JP Morgan
has warned investors to keep away from RM. They
point to RM's "relatively generous sick-pay" and the
fact that many of us have been off with Covid,
increasing RM's costs... Yes, all these sharks would
prefer workers to have no sick pay at all.

WTL is a waste of time tbqf. The same can be achienedv with the daily huddles. Much of the RMTV stuff is not relevant to MCs and if it's an "ass covering" video then they can just get groups together to watch itjimallen wrote: ↑13 Feb 2022, 20:03ONE WAY OR ANOTHER
