Old Van's , PDA vehicle checks.

Hoping to find out some info for a mate who works in a sub office. He has a problem with his van, which he has reported to his DOM. Now they won't actually fix the problem with the van because the van is 12 years old. How can they actually refuse to fix a fault on a van??? Surely this is illegal?

So now he is off work with a leg/back problem.

Doctor and physio are of the opinion that it has been caused by the fault with the van. Now he is having to have a x-ray to rule a stress fracture......Can he refuse to use the van? But then if he does that, it just passes the problem on to someone else. Apparently the van is that old, if he tries to do the vehicle checks on a PDA it doesn't exist! I will ask my H&S rep at my D.O about it (he doesn't drive though)but wondered if there are any people on here who have any experience with a situation like this??

Seat doesn’t adjust resulting in unnatural seating position which when done daily over time causes injury. For example

In our office they would swap his van with a different one and give the old one to someone else who doesn’t have the same health issues. Then let the other person get the same trouble down the line.

Phone fleet and book it in. on the pda put it as private vehicle with the registration and sign it off so it cant be used. Fill a PMT1 form in.
