Collapsing Walks

Hi All, over on HellMail someone has `posted` about `collapsing walks` anyone on this Board know anything about this????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ` Another! money saving exercise! A walk, nearest to the Office is taken out on a `rota system` for nothing!!!!!!!!! then said person does own walk?

Yes collapsing 6 walks into 5 from week 9 to week 24. Also trying to bring in if any colleagus on walks go sick walk is absorbed by neighbouring 5 walks. As you say another cost cutting measure. But if your rep goes to disagreement nothing should happen unless they try to bring it in by executive action, then all you can do I think is work to your contracted hours (cutting off).

Can't be done,we're only supposed to do 3-30hr walks.
I've never heard of it,might be a Doms brainwave,maybe some of the others might know on here.
Sure they're not mixing it up with the 6 onto 5 bollox.

It's the summer lapsing they are proposing in the national pay talks.

Collapsing 6 turns into 5 during the summer.

And later starts.

They are proposing both issues on a local basis everywhere.

This is not 6 into 5, this is summer staffing they have proposed to me that we can cover 3 walks this year and 2 driving duties of a saturday, this will rise to 1 walk out of every 7 next year due to the short amount of time we have to implement it this year, this is down to the supposed recuction in traffic over the sumer period. have obviously gone to disagreement, i think it's week 10 next week so i think they will fast track this through the I/R process and eventually implement it by E/A. this is one of the major points why people should be supporting there union and voting YES.

They are already trying to force through 1 in 7 walks lapsed in my office even on saturdays. Pretty shocking really! Linos are harrassing us everyday trying to get us to take it out with varying success. What most concerns me is what will happen if most of us keep refusing? We recently went through a period where no OT would be paid out unless we went to the DOM to ask for it who would then try to bully people to get out of it. I would bet money on this becoming the norm for not taking lapsing out soon!
