Re: Overtime ban coming?
That would probably result in every shift at our place being f****d. Every shift relies on people in on ot and the use of casuals/agency

Re: Overtime ban coming?
Would this not be a good thing ? If it led to massive failures it would probably lead to more permanent jobs for our colleagues rather than relying on ot or agency staff to muddle through.

Re: Overtime ban coming?
It’s my concern an OT ban is coming, and that they are building up to it if only for a few weeks (because it never ever lasts).
It’s not the financial side I’m bothered about, but the fact I (and many others) would then not meet the 8 hour requirements for holiday pay and have to mess around putting in a private claim. It’s the principal of being cheated out of money which I can’t stand and gets me annoyed.
After this month there’s only 2 more qualifying periods remaining for the latest holiday pay requirements (Period 11; 31st Jan to 27th Feb and period 12; 28th Feb to 27th March). Hopefully if there is an overtime ban starts after then.
Wouldn’t be so bad if they gave advance notice that from April there’s an OT ban, people could then decide if they want to do OT when the ban ends and fight through ACAS to get what they are owed. But RM don’t think logically, fairly and definitely don’t communicate well with plenty notice!

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: Overtime ban coming?
My gut feeling is that RM would just make dispatch times at least an hour later and probably change attendance times around, possibly with a greater number towards the later part of the shift. If they ever did that, it would have an inevitable affect on DOs as your start and finish times would be made later by the same amountchickenwittle wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 09:07Would this not be a good thing ? Why is everyone in the mc obsessed with pushing back the dispatch times and shafting us delivery guys?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 09:24My gut feeling is that RM would just make dispatch times at least an hour later and probably change attendance times around, possibly with a greater number towards the later part of the shift. Re: Overtime ban coming?
The mail has to be on the lorries by the time of the final dispatch. With less staff, it's going to take longer to process, so to get it all processed, they're going to have to make the final dispatch times later. For DOs you'd effectively going to get a double whammy of the knock-on affects from mail arriving at inward MCs later as the final dispatches from the outward MCs would be later and then the final dispatches of the inward MCs being later, with the added bonus of the lorries arriving later into the inward MCs2yearpostie wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 10:19Why is everyone in the mc obsessed with pushing back the dispatch times and shafting us delivery guys?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 09:24My gut feeling is that RM would just make dispatch times at least an hour later and probably change attendance times around, possibly with a greater number towards the later part of the shift. Less tea breaks needed then, 5 hours should be ample.wallan wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 13:01With a 2200 Despatch from the Outward M C you have only about 5 Hours to get it into the Inward M C for that days Delivery2yearpostie wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 10:19Why is everyone in the mc obsessed with pushing back the dispatch times and shafting us delivery guys?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 09:24My gut feeling is that RM would just make dispatch times at least an hour later and probably change attendance times around, possibly with a greater number towards the later part of the shift. We'll be sending all your mech as walk sort then (and depending on how busy it is, you might get a load of manual as well) as 5 hours wouldn't quite be enough time for wave 1 let alone wave 1 and 2 combined2yearpostie wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 13:39Less tea breaks needed then, 5 hours should be ample.wallan wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 13:01With a 2200 Despatch from the Outward M C you have only about 5 Hours to get it into the Inward M C for that days Delivery2yearpostie wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 10:19Why is everyone in the mc obsessed with pushing back the dispatch times and shafting us delivery guys?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 09:24My gut feeling is that RM would just make dispatch times at least an hour later and probably change attendance times around, possibly with a greater number towards the later part of the shift. Then why are RM buying PSMs for MCs then? PSMs aren't needed for a simple 3 way split.Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 14:08But mail is declining and the parcels are going to the hubs.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 10:57The mail has to be on the lorries by the time of the final dispatch. Re: Overtime ban coming?
For all the mech we get sorted now it will only make 15 minutes difference anyway, if you stopped doing mech and sent it earlier it would actually help.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 19:51We'll be sending all your mech as walk sort then (and depending on how busy it is, you might get a load of manual as well) as 5 hours wouldn't quite be enough time for wave 1 let alone wave 1 and 2 combined2yearpostie wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 13:39Less tea breaks needed then, 5 hours should be ample.wallan wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 13:01With a 2200 Despatch from the Outward M C you have only about 5 Hours to get it into the Inward M C for that days Delivery2yearpostie wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 10:19Why is everyone in the mc obsessed with pushing back the dispatch times and shafting us delivery guys?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 09:24My gut feeling is that RM would just make dispatch times at least an hour later and probably change attendance times around, possibly with a greater number towards the later part of the shift. Re: Overtime ban coming?
Things would be even worse than now regarding QoS. The company basically runs on overtime. At least at the coal face it does.
