Advertising Duty (That's NOT Vacant)

Good evening all, I am asking a question for a colleague that is not on this forum so was hopeful of some replies that I can forward to them please.

Situation is as follows:

Colleague has a duty that was picked in current office approximately 3 years ago. For the last 11 months they have been in a trainee manager position (covering other offices in area) but are still tagged to their parent office. Another member of staff has been keeping on to the DOM insisting that the Trainee Managers picked duty should be advertised after 12 months. Colleague believes that this isn't correct as at any time they could be sent back to their parent office and back on delivery (unless they are made substantive as a manager) at any time.

Any advice to the correct procedure would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Trainee managers like full time reps always had a duty kept for them.
In a trainee manager's case his or her duty that they signed for.
Many times years ago our crud would work in my old office as a manager, then get booted down to postie, awkward.

So yes if they are out acting, their duty is still theirs.
Although at times, depending on who the crud is, you could persuade them to sign for a reserve duty so it doesn't screw things up.
