Resourcing; the Reserve rights!

I've always been told by the long-term OPG's that during weekly resourcing; reserves have the right to pick the available walks based on their seniority. The office workplace rep and management seem to think it's their god-given right to choose who goes on what with impunity.

Is this correct? or is their standing operating procedure written in one of the agreements that says otherwise?

It's simple, reserves should pick due to seniority. There must be a reserve seniority list somewhere?
Seniority holds the field in most things in the business.

Before people start demanding things from their superiors best have it to hand in black and white as a source of reference. Have yet to see such a policy

While I can endorse the sentiment, I think the involvement of the WPC in this is a matter for conjecture as the 'workplace (sic) rep and manager' are mentioned, not the WPC.

For what little its worth, in our office, reserves are assigned to duties by managers according to knowledge or whim - any 'seniority' consideration is secondary to who's deemed most intractable or bolshy if specific knowledge doesn't apply. I suppose in fairness, it'd be pretty time consuming to run down our extensive reserve list asking who'd like to be where in seniority order, only to have to begin again at 7 on a Monday AM when someone rings in sick . . .
