Worst performing Mail Centre over Christmas?
So Bristol was the worst performing Mail Centre over the Christmas Period in the country 69/69 "by a long way", despite being one of the hot house Centres. Discuss

The worst! How come?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think the RM figures that are used to compile the figures to make up these tables have to be taken with a very large pinch of salt , you've always had phantom alts , coffins , racks and yorks but the amount of creative licence now, is something elseL Tommo wrote:ELMC... Bristol never handstamps all its live mail. It makes an attempt at the beginning of the evening, and then gives in when everything looks like going t's up. Hiding work here is an art form, and yet it still finds itself consistently where it is - without a paddle.L Tommo wrote:When you see screws hiding work and have more tricks than a counjurior with the figures RM can make a MC look like anything they want...

Yes, there is a list of Christmas performance. Bristol is usually bottom or near as dman it throughout the year. There ws a blip when it climbed the table, last year, but slipped down to its usual level. I really feel sorry for our previous MCM, who was, and I have to be honest, a great guy, but was handed a very poisoned challice. The person we have now is a troubleshooter, who looks like his temporary tenure will be equally as marred.
Basically, there's no staff, and what staff there is is untrained, or on OT on our shift, and doesn't have a clue what they are doing. For example my road, London Packets had myself on there on my own all day - setting up trying to find equipment to set up - and that's after an hour each day clearing the physical mess that the early shift have left - from 2pm to 6.40pm, when I got help in the form of two polish casuals. 3 people to do the work of 10 people.
......and they wonder why it fails. Am I bothered? To hell I am.
Hey L Tommo - were you not at Southend MLO at one time?

BRISTOL MAIL CENTRE
I'M NOT AT ALL SURPRISED BRISTOL MAIL CENTRE IS THE WORST PERFORMING IN THE COUNTRY. I DRIVE 600,S AND GO THERE ON A DAILY BASIS. THE WHOLE PLACE IS A SHAMBLES,WE,RE CONSTANTLY BEING TOLD BY THEM"YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR COLLECTION MAIL HERE EARLIER" WHEN WE DO GET THERE(M5 ALLOWING) 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 YOU HAVE TO UNLOAD ON YOUR OWN WHILE THE PLATFORM STAFF STAND THERE AND WATCH YOU. YOU TAKE YOUR SPECIALS DOWN TO THE LOCKER AT THE OTHER END OF THE BUILDING, GO TO THE TOILET ETC AND WHEN YOU COME BACK ALL THE WORK YOU,VE UNLOADED IS STILL SAT WHERE YOU LEFT IT. CONTRAST THIS WITH EXETER MC, WHERE WE SOMETIMES GO WHEN BRISTOL CANT COPE, YOU GET THERE 2 GUYS HELPING YOU AS SOON AS THE TAIL LIFT GO,S DOWN , THE MAIL BEING WHEELED STRAIGHT INTO THE BUILDING AND BEING PROCESSED BEFORE YOU,VE EVEN FINISHED UNLOADING.IF ONLY WE COULD GO THERE ALL THE TIME!

Yes, BMC is a total shambles from start to finish. You may well be seeing more of Exeter in the futurethe shadow wrote:I'M NOT AT ALL SURPRISED BRISTOL MAIL CENTRE IS THE WORST PERFORMING IN THE COUNTRY. I DRIVE 600,S AND GO THERE ON A DAILY BASIS. not another poisoned chalice of a loading bay , thought Lancashire had a monopoly on them , poor management & supervision , lazy care in the workplace shifty staff !.
I agree with your points , it has to be shifted and those sort of practices /culture won't be popular with WAM's inside who have to have the work .
Typical RM , everything against each other and mgt's little empires and petty squabbles .Our way isn't working doesn't help either !

Do they still spend more time in the Cattle Market Tavern than working ?zaphod wrote:Yes, BMC is a total shambles from start to finish. Cattle Market Tavern? Boy, you are 10 years out of date
.
This is the cleanest you'll ever see it. Brand spanking new. It's filthy and a dump now.

The Mail Centre moved from there to the north side of Filton Airfield in 1998, to a brand new purpose built building that is already too small, and er, crap. Lease runs out February 14th 2016.
Pubs are not really in walking distance, although there are three around Filton Roundabout. Handy to be driven too. I've known night shift acting WAM's do taxi-ing duties, when their staff have applied for pre-duty overtime and failed, as they did, in their OPG capacity.
Would make an ideal public terminal for the airfield, should it ever revert to that, or a handy hangar for AirBus across the way. The new AB owners are wanting to expand the wing production they do at their site, and Bristol mail Centre would be ideal.
Can someone call them to put in an offer to Rolls Royce Pensions, who are now our landlords? (RR live across the road from the centre, too

Whos top? Who cares?
Lies, damn lies & Leightons "bullshit"
Our manager told us we came 20th (MC). In SK we had no outward. Get rid of the mail to somewhere else and you'll get a high placing.
Not really, we were told we came second last year! Last year we processed more, is that possibly because we had LA's and managers on "gardening" leave" from all over and more casuals. NO, we processed more mail thru the LSMs last year without this lot. By the way our last years savings bonus paid the strike breakers there O/T we weren't told and we still don.t know how that came about.
We should stop being suprised by the managers propaganda and build the union so that it is what we want.
Yes duties are going here. We have shadows not managers. "C'mon, c'mon hurry up; why's the thing not running......" Push, push push. They are panicking because L/managers jobs are on the line too. They care about the figures because that relates to their jobs. We should recognise all goals set and achieved will be discounted next week and the goal posts moved (further uphill and closer together).
Hoperfully I'll see some of you next Saturday marching with our Burslem bros(& sisters).
Philippo.
Support Karen Reissmann, mental healtrh nurse sacked for speaking out. Its all about solidarity.
