RMCtv : HOUSE OF COMMONS MAIL FORWARDING SERVICE COMMENCING THURSDAY 14TH JANUARY

Post by POSTMAN »

Royal Mail has been asked at short notice to step in and replace a service provider for the House of Commons, which shows great confidence in our people's abilities and trust in our reputation. As of Thursday 14th January, we will start to see polylopes sent by House of Commons Mailroom, with Account Click & Drop Special Delivery Guaranteed (SDG) "By 1pm" labels, containing Letters and Large Letters forwarded to MPs' home addresses or constituency offices.

This is a bespoke service, so unlike normal SDG, there is no need to make an attendance call and obtain a signature. Once scanned, "D W S" should be written in the signature box and the polylope posted through the door. If the letterbox aperture is too small to post it intact, the polylope should be opened and the contents plus the polylope posted.

Some MPs have a redirection in place from their DO to direct their mail to a security screening site. Everything received in polylopes from the House of Commons has already been security screened, so must not be redirected.
We do not currently have a photo of the actual polylope at present, but here is a mock-up and an actual image will be obtained ASAP:

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Is this actually a new thing? I've had a few of these over the years for a local Lord. Always fits into the letterbox.

They used to send loads up until I think it was the mid 2000s, when I assume that at the time RM must have lost the contract. I think back then they went through as normal 1st class.

I wonder if SD lockers in MCs will have to bag these separately or if they'll just go in the sleeves/bags with the rest of the SDs for a DO

Do or did we run this sort of service for Buckingham Palace or did I dream that?

I never understood the logic behind these. They're a Special but they're not. They don't require a signature but the PDA wants a signature. If it doesn't fit, just rip it open and shove the stuff through individually. It should be it's own product specification but like everything else it's a complete bodge.

Hi all - we're getting delivery failures for the new House of Commons Mail Forwarding service in some areas because people are trying to obtain a signature.

There is no signature with this bespoke service (it also says this on the polylope). Can we do anything to raise awareness, please? It'd be embarrassing to lose the service so soon after winning it back! Thank you

Have managers (I use the term lightly) had any WTLL/huddles/oi you lot, if you get etc at your place?

I'd bet that none of the managers in my office are even aware the product exists.

I showed one of these to Manager last week who read the envelope and he just laughed and walked off.
No WTLL / huddles, managers far too busy prepping walks , doing IPS and parcels / specials to give any updates like this

What do the numpties expect when it gets sent via a service/product where obtaining a signature is MANDATORY! :cuppa

The system won't care about that, it'll just see it as a failure if no signature is acquired. RM would have been better off using no signature Tracked

I suggest you actually read the procedure for dealing with these items.
If no answer, DWS is put in the signature box.
No signature and no failure.

Maybe leave deliveries to the people who actually do them?

No signature and no failure.
But that is an input on the signature field. If it doesn't need a signature it shouldn't prompt for one at all. As I said earlier, it's a Special with so many caveats that it isn't a Special anymore. No wonder they're having issues.
